The procedure for choosing campuses for TISS

The admissions process at TISS, Mumbai, which had previously been carried out exclusively online, was reorganised during the preceding academic year. The Pre-Interview Test round has been cancelled by the university, and candidates will now be selected based on their performance in online interviews instead.

1. Online Assessments (OA)

The duration of the online evaluations will range anywhere from twenty to thirty minutes, and they will be carried out by panels consisting of three people. This will serve as an evaluation of the candidate’s level of interest in the chosen programme. The OA will be composed of the following two parts:

A spontaneous reflection on the subject matter of the assignment

Candidates will be required to give a presentation in which they will be asked to reflect on the topic that will be presented by a member of the panel. The topic will have some bearing on the curriculum that will be followed. The presentation should take no longer than two to three minutes. Candidates have the option of asking for a second topic in the event that the first topic will not allow them to feel comfortable. Candidates are cautioned to take note that there will not be a third opportunity to change the subject.

Interviews Conducted Via the Internet (OPI)

During this portion of the process, the members of the panel will engage in conversation with the candidates in order to evaluate the candidates’ level of motivation, level of readiness, level of interest, and level of subject knowledge. The understanding of candidates for OPI positions about social and economic factors will also be evaluated.

2. The Conclusion and Selection

On the basis of the results of the assessments, the candidates will be given a final weighting, and admission will be granted to qualifying students according to that weighting. Initially, the scores for the TISSNET, TISSMAT, and Personal Interview round were supposed to be converted into the following ratio: 30:40:30. On the other hand, as a result of the ongoing problem with COVID-19, the TISSNET selection process for 2021 has been altered and the announcement has been made.

Choosing those who will move on to Stage 2 and the Final Selection

Candidates planning to take the TISSNET exam in 2023 are cautioned to take note that a separate intimation will not be provided to those candidates who have been shortlisted for stage 2. On the website where candidates log in, they will be able to view the status.

Candidates are required to verify the status of their results on a regular basis in order to obtain information regarding shortlisting and the subsequent admission procedure.

On the website where users log in, all of the admissions information, including the merit list, waiting list, and those who were not selected, will be presented.

Admission to the TISS: Seat Assignment

After the OPI round, a merit list will be generated for each individual course based on the following criteria:

Candidate’s aggregate score

Candidates are asked to indicate their programme choices of preference on the application form.

The TISS website will be updated with the merit list once it has been compiled. Every applicant will have access to the scorecard, which will display their overall score as well as their scores for each of the individual components (TISSNET, TISSMAT, and PI) On the basis of this list, candidates will be given the opportunity to enrol in one of several concentrations within the Master of Arts programmes that are provided by TISS. The scorecards, which will also be given to the candidates and will indicate the candidates’ marks for each exam phase, will be delivered to the students.

Guidelines for the Organization of Waitlists

Applicants who are successful in gaining admission to the programme that is at the top of their list of preferences will not be placed on the waitlist for any of the other programmes that they have selected.

Candidates who are accepted into a programme that is lower on their list of preferences will have their names kept on the wait list for a choice that is higher on their list until all of the available seats in that programme have been taken.

When a candidate who has already been admitted into a programme as a result of the first merit list is later offered a higher preference as a result of the activation of the waitlist, that candidate will be moved into the programme of the higher preference, and they will have no claim for the programme that they were admitted into as a result of the lower preference. In circumstances like this, we shall not consider any requests to maintain admission in the lowest preference category.
