IIM Ranchi Admission 

IIM Ranchi is one of the most renowned IIMs for its participants’ diverse academic pursuits for excellence. IIM candidates who seek to study in a relatively pleasant climatic environment and scenic surroundings prefer IIM Ranchi Admission to IIM Ranchi is done through the IIMs CAP. The institute is one of the nine new IIMs registered to participate in the Common Admission Process 2024. The shortlist for the first selection round for the IIM Ranchi Admission is given in the table below. However, it is to be noted that the eligibility criteria are just a figurative indication as a final shortlist will be released by IIM Ranchi in the month of January. This final shortlist is constructed considering the combined results of the participants for IIM Ranchi Admission. 

The institution no longer conducts WAP for IIM Ranchi admission. The shortlisting in the first round will take place first through the CAT exam cut off criteria, and then the shortlisted applicants will be reached for the Personal Interview (PI) for IIM Ranchi Admission. 

A list of shortlisted candidates will be released in mid-January. The candidates who find their CAT exam scores to be eligible for shortlisting may not find their name on the shortlist. For IIM Ranchi admission another shortlist is prepared by combining the applications shortlisted from this cut off criteria.  This will be the final list to be considered for the first round of shortlisting for IIM Ranchi admission.

Shortlisted candidates will be reached by the institution for updates regarding the Personal Interview round for the IIM Ranchi Admission Process. The personal interview will be conducted virtually by IIMs under the Common Admission Process. IIM Udaipur is expected to host the interview round for IIM Ranchi Admission. Candidates from different categories namely (General, NC-OBC, SC, ST, EWS, and DAP) will be shortlisted based on the ranking mentioned in the table above. 

The final selection for IIM Ranchi admission takes place on the basis of the Consolidated Merit List. The list states that a candidate is evaluated through three major aspects. First, the candidate’s performance in the CAT exam is assessed, and then the score earned by them in the Personal Interview round is considered. The final criteria for consideration will be the candidate’s profile. A candidate’s profile comprises three sections namely: Academic Profile, Work Experience, Academic Diversity, and Gender Diversity. IIM Ranchi Admission Committee

IIMs conduct the CAT exam. The CAT Exam scores are the primary shortlisting criteria for all IIMs for admission. IIM Ranchi Admission committee is the same as the committee for the Common Admission Process. The CAP community was formed by the IIMs for the purpose of coordinating the admission process of nine new IIMs including IIM Ranchi namely: IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy and IIM Udaipur. The admission procedures of these nine new IIMs are coordinated by the CAP community. 

IIM Ranchi Admission Committee, which is the CAP committee, has designed a methodology to be followed by the new IIMs for the admission process. This states that the IIM Ranchi admission process is divided into three stages: CAT exam cut off, Personal Interview, and Profile of the candidate. 

The first shortlist of the CAT exam cut off is released in mid-January. Applicants shortlisted in this stage are reached by the IIM Ranchi admission committee to provide updates regarding the Personal Interview round. This personal interview round is coordinated by the Common Admission Process Committee. IIM Udaipur is expected to host the interview (virtual) process of the IIM Ranchi Admission. 

IIM Ranchi Admission Process

How to get admission in IIM Ranchi? Following the steps mentioned below will guide a candidate to the final round of IIM Ranchi Admission. The IIMs Common admission process is to be followed by the nine new IIMs. IIM Ranchi is one of nine newly registered IIMs. IIM Ranchi Admission process is divided into three stages of shortlisting the candidates namely: CAT Exam cut off, Personal Interview, and profile evaluation of the candidate according to the Consolidated merit List given by the CAP committee. 

The CAT Exam 

First and foremost requirement of IIM Ranchi Admission is registering for the CAT Exam. The last date for the CAT exam registration is September 20, 2023. The applicants have to fill out IIM Ranchi as one of their preferred colleges. The application fees for IIM Ranchi admission are included in the CAT exam application fees. In the same application, the candidate must mention the course that they wish to study at IIM Ranchi. The application fee (non-refundable) is INR 2,300 for the general and INR 1,150 for the reserved category.

After the declaration of the CAT exam result the candidate can visit the official website of IIM Ranchi to check whether they are shortlisted or not. The candidates can register by entering their CAT 2023 registration ID and Password. IIM Ranchi doesn’t publish its list or cut off criteria on any public domains, those can only be accessed by the students after logging into the official website

A total of 100,716 candidates from the general category were selected IIM Ranchi as their CAT preference, of which 8998 were shortlisted by the institution for an interview and 2210 received the final offer. The CAT Exam is one of the most challenging national-level examinations conducted in India.   • Be updated with the Syllabus of the CAT Exam and question pattern
  • Solve the previous year’s CAT question paper to minimize the scope of mistakes, it will also help in presenting the idea of question pattern and intensity of difficulty.
  • Read newspapers, editorials, books, and journals to improve your vocabulary and develop precise brevity and reading skills. 
  • Solve as many sample papers and CAT Mock tests as you possibly can.
  • Practice from a  standard reference book. 

CAT Exam cut off for the first round of the IIM Ranchi Admission process is mentioned in this article in the table at the beginning. It must be kept in mind that the respective candidates from various categories will be shortlisted based on the updated list for the cut off for IIM Ranchi admission. Personal Interview Round

What is the importance of Personal Interview in the Indian Institute of Management Ranchi admission Process? Shortlisted candidates from the first round will be reached out for the Personal Interview Round for IIM Ranchi Admission. The candidate must be very attentive while filling their Email and phone number in the application form for the CAT exam. The personal interview will be conducted virtually on an online mode, and the updates regarding this will be shared with the shortlisted candidates by the CAP community. Final Admission Round  

Candidates shortlisted from the personal Interview round are evaluated in the last round on the basis of the Consolidated Merit List. This list for the final round of IIM Ranchi admission is prepared on the basis of three components: CAT Scores, PI Scores, and the candidate’s profile.

The CAT Exam percentile

IIM Ranchi has assigned only 40% of the weightage to the CAT exam in the final round of the IIM Ranchi Admission Process. The CAT exam includes Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension (VARC), Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning (DILR), and Quantitative Aptitude (QA). This syllabus for the CAT exam is Designed by the IIMs. 

The candidates aspiring to crack the CAT exam cut off has to meet the eligibility criteria of individual section. Note: The data mentioned above is not the final CAT 2023 Qualifying Cutoff. It is estimated based on the previous year's qualifying cutoff. The actual data might be on the higher side than this for 2023 based on the factors responsible for the CAT exam cut-off. 

The final score obtained in the CAT exam will hold only 40% of the weightage in the Final round of the IIM Ranchi Admission process. This 40% weight is assigned to the Consolidating Merit List to be followed for the Indian Institute of Management admission process. The rest of the 60% weight is assigned to the candidate’s profile, academic diversity, gender diversity, and work experience. The Personal Interview Round

As discussed earlier in this article, the IIMs CAP community hosts this personal interview round for the nine new IIMs. The personal interview round holds 30% of the weight in the consolidated merit list released by the IIMs for the admission process. IIM Ranchi is one of the nine newly registered IIMs including IIM Bodhgaya, IIM Jammu, IIM Kashipur, IIM Raipur, IIM Sambalpur, IIM Sirmaur, IIM Trichy, and IIM Udaipur. The academic profile is calculated on the basis of the candidate’s academic history given by the candidate in the CAT exam application form. This comprises three academic qualifications namely: SSC (Secondary School Certificate), HSC (Higher Secondary Certificate), and Graduation Certificate. If the candidate is having an academic diversity in his/her academic history then that could allow the applicant up to 5 marks. The IIMs are supportive towards gender diversity. 5 marks out of 30 is reserved only for the female and transgender applicants of the IIM Ranchi Admission. These 5 marks will also be considered in the 30% weight allotted to the profile of the applicant in the Consolidated Merit List formed by the IIMs CAP community. 

IIM Ranchi Admission Fees 

Fee Structure of IIM Ranchi Admission

After the candidate has accepted the offer of IIM Ranchi admission, a fee of INR 1,00,000/- is to be deposited. This amount is adjusted against the 1st term fee. The tuition fee for the first term includes the amount paid as IIM Ranchi admission and tuition fees.

The IIM Ranchi admission fee of INR 1,00,000 has to be paid online and the balance of the first term fee of Rs 1,80,000/- plus the first term mess expenses of INR 15,000/- a total of which amounts to Rs. 1,95,000/- is to be paid before the date of registration, that is to be communicated by the PGP Office

Indian Institute of Management Ranchi admission fees include a caution deposit of INR 10,000 that is refundable at the time of leaving the institute subject to the adjustment, if any.

 The overall fee structure for IIM Ranchi Hostels ranges from INR 1,20,000 to INR 2,46,000. The hostels' charges are INR 60,000 per year. The hostels are situated within the beautiful infrastructure of Khelgaon Ranchi. The residences of Boys and Girls are in separate blocks at IIM Ranchi. The hostel facilities have potential flex for its participants. The rooms offered as IIM Ranchi facilities are equipped with three and four bedrooms that are fully furnished. The hygiene of these hostel rooms is up to the standards of this reputed infrastructure. Canteen facilities and snack bar services are available for almost twenty hours a day. The mess charges include INR 63,000 per year.
