MAT Eligibility Criteria

The All India Management Association (AIMA) says that the MAT Eligibility Criteria is a list of academic requirements that MBA candidates must meet in order to be able to take the entrance test. The Management Aptitude Test, or MAT, is given by AIMA four times a year, in February, May, September, and December. This test is often used to get into MBA/PGDM programs.

Over 700 business schools across the country use the MAT score to decide who gets into their MBA/PGDM programs. People who want to take the MAT in 2022 must make sure they meet the requirements to be able to apply. Candidates can take the MAT exam in one of three ways: online (Internet-Based Test, or IBT), on a computer (Computer-Based Test, or CBT), or on paper (Paper-Based Test, or PBT). The requirements for all three ways are the same. There is no limit on how many times you can take the test. For MBA admission, the scores from the most recent MAT will be taken into account.

CBT, PBT, and IBT registrations for the MAT in February 2023 have begun. If you want to take the MAT exam, check out the detailed MAT eligibility criteria and other important information about the exam below.

Criteria for MAT Eligibility in 2023

School Requirements:

Candidates must have a bachelor’s degree in any field from an Institute or University that is recognized.

People who are taking their final year exams or waiting for their Bachelor’s degree results can also take MAT 2023.

Age Limit:

No one is too old to take the MAT exam. But since having a bachelor’s degree is a requirement, most candidates are at least 20 years old.

Experience at Work:

Work experience is not a requirement to take the MAT, but MBA schools that accept MAT scores give it more weight in the selection process.

MAT IBT Eligibility in 2023

For the candidate to be able to take the MAT Internet-Based Test, they must meet the minimum requirements:

  • Needed on the computer: a system with a webcam that can take pictures.
  • Local server or Cache proxy to store information about test delivery and store candidate results temporarily.
  • Windows 8.1 and Windows 10 are the systems they run on.
  • Browsers: Use Microsoft Internet Explorer instead.
  • Connection to the internet: Broadband connection with a speed of 4Mbps down and 1Mbps up. Instead of getting a device that does both LAN and internet, it’s best to get two separate ones.

MAT Participating Institutes’ Eligibility Criteria

According to the general MAT eligibility requirements set by the participating institutes, candidates must have a bachelor’s degree and a valid MAT 2023 score. Some B-schools set a minimum score of 50% on the qualifying degree exam for the General category and a minimum score of 45% on the qualifying degree exam for the Reserved category.

MAT Reservation Criteria:

MAT or AIMA does not set Reservation criteria for the entrance exam. For admission through MAT, the Reservation Policy set by the colleges that are taking part is followed. This is in line with the Reservation Policy set by the Government of India.

Reservation rules for SC/ST/OBC/EWS candidates taking the MAT:

Based on the percentages given below, candidates from the Reserved categories can get an MBA seat. To get a seat through the Reservation Policy, these candidates will have to show a certificate from the Government of India that shows their caste or tribe.
