Nalanda University was established in the year 2010. The University is headed by its Chancellor Vijay P. Bhatkar and Vice Chancellor Sunaina Singh, with an aim to educate students be they national or international.
Nalanda University campus is located in Rajgir which is a neighbourhood of the Bihar state. It has been recognised as an excellence-focused Institute of National Importance (INI). A law passed by the Indian Parliament in 2010 formed the global university. In order to recreate the historic institution of Nalanda, which operated between the fifth and thirteenth centuries, Nalanda University was founded.
Nalanda University courses offered are unique; they include master's, PhD, and diploma programmes with a variety of subject options. The courses offered at Nalanda University are ultimately centred on the ideologies and studies of Sanatana Dharma and Hinduism. The university also provides courses in economics and political science.
Nalanda University Scholarships offer both Merit Scholarships and Means-Cum-Merit Scholarships are two of the scholarship options, which aim to improve every student's future. Nalanda University provides scholarships for students attending both domestic and international universities.
These aid packages were developed for students who perform well academically yet face financial difficulties. Students whose families make less than INR 4.5 LPA are eligible for the Means-cum-Merit scholarship. Students must submit their applications before July of each year because that is when the deadline for this award is.
Scholars came to study under Nalanda University professors from far-off regions including China, Korea, Japan, Tibet, Mongolia, Turkey, Sri Lanka, and South East Asia because of their teachers' great knowledge. The architecture, education, and atmosphere experiences at this distinctive university have been documented by these researchers. Chinese academics have provided the most in-depth accounts; Xuan Zang, who returned with hundreds of scriptures that were later translated into Chinese, is the most well-known of these.
The first step towards realizing the aim of reinventing the old Nalanda was therefore taken when the Hon'ble Dr A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, a former president of India, suggested the concept of restoring the historic Nalanda University in a speech to the Bihar State Legislative Assembly in March 2006. Nearly simultaneously, the government of Singapore offered the "Nalanda Proposal" to the government of India, calling for the restoration of old Nalanda in order to make it the center of Asia once more. In the same vein, the State Government of Bihar quickly embraced the innovative concept and sought advice from the Indian Government on the best course of action. It also started looking for an appropriate place for the future Nalanda University at that time.
The foundation of contemporary Nalanda University continues to be diversity, a knowledge ecosystem thriving on the shared creation of new information, and an international viewpoint that set the old Nalanda University apart. As a result, the sixteen East Asia Summit (EAS) member states' leaders agreed to revive Nalanda when they met in the Philippines in January 2007. Of course, the main influence came from the historical Nalanda. However, the idea was both futuristic and committed to the ideals and standards of the ancient center of learning, which have been proven to be both beneficial and widely applicable.
Nalanda University Act 2010 was approved by both Houses of the Indian Parliament, the project finally gained momentum. After a gap of over 800 years, the University reopened its doors to the first group of students in September 2014, working to re-establish the ties and linkages that once existed in the Asia region before the advent of historical factors that caused their breakdown. Asian civilizations have a variety of long-standing links that are evident in the common cultural characteristics they share. A renewed interest in learning about and expanding upon a shared past has resulted from the recent rediscovery of inter-Asian connections.
A resolution to revive Nalanda University was approved by the 16 participating nations during the 2nd East Asia Summit in 2007. At the 4th East Asia Summit in 2009, ASEAN members Australia, China, Korea, Singapore, and Japan pledged to continue their assistance. The institution received land for its new campus from the Bihar State Government, which had previously purchased it from locals. Nitish Kumar, the chief minister of Bihar, also met with SM Krishna, the minister of external affairs, to get assurances that the federal government will provide enough funding for the project.
Nalanda University courses offer its students a total of 13 courses, Postgraduate and doctoral-level courses are given at Nalanda University.

My association with Mr Kanhaiya Agarwal, the founder of Formfees, a niche start-up in education space, goes back to school days. Kanhaiya and I were school friends and I have watched him closely during his evolution from a young charming boy to a hard core entrepeneur. During my preparation for management entrance exams, Kanhaiya and his team at Formfees helped me immensely in finalizing the startegy and fine tuning the execution. It is because of he and his team that I have been able to secure my dream seat at XLRI. I wish Formfees all the best for all its future endeavours.
