IIT Madras Admission Without JEE

The BSc in data science program at the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) permits students to achieve an IIT degree without taking the Joint Entrance Exam (JEE). While candidates are spared the difficult preparation and battle for qualifying for the JEE Main for engineering and later the JEE Advanced for the IITs, completing the program is still difficult.

There is no entrance exam system. Students with Class 10 math proficiency can enroll straight. However, not everyone can continue. IIT Madras holds a qualifying exam one month later.

Only 8,154 of the first batch of approximately 30,000 students to participate in the qualifier procedure passed the qualifier exam in 2020 and were enrolled in further levels of the program. The first month's charge has been purposefully kept low to pay the expense of the examination at the end of the month.

According to IIT Madras, the data science program is the world's first online BSc degree program. It also provides exits with lower qualifications along the route.

Andrew Thangaraj, who is in charge of the program, said "When we designed the curriculum, we intended a student who had passed Class 10 with mathematics to be able to study what was in the software and gradually build everything to graduate with a successful degree and become a successful programmer and data scientist."

According to Thangaraj, the JEE Main and JEE Advanced together are highly challenging and "keep 99.99% of the world out." We aimed to shatter that barrier and demonstrate what an education of IIT caliber looks like.

IIT Madras Admission and Eligibility for a BSc in Data Science

There are no age or stream requirements to participate in the training. To be qualified for the first month of the qualifying course, all candidates must have completed Class 12 and studied math at least until Class 10. Students who join train online with IIT Madras for a week before taking a qualifying exam. If they pass, they will be admitted to the foundation stage.

The course is divided into three stages: the fundamental program, the diploma program, and the degree program. Students will be able to exit the program and get a certificate, diploma, or degree depending on how far they progressed. Students who are interested in taking the entrance exam must pay a fee.

Students can be based worldwide, but exam centers are currently limited to India, the United Arab Emirates, and Sri Lanka.
