IIT Bombay Recent Updates

JEE Main 2024 registration for Session 1 has commenced, and students interested in applying may do so until November 30, 2023. In addition, the JEE Main Test 2024 for session 1 will be held between January 24, 2024, and February 1, 2024. The JEE Main Session 2 test will be given between April 1 and 15, 2024.

The following are some of the most recent IIT Bombay updates:

  • The list of PhD students who are chosen by IIT Bombay for the Entrance Test and PI has been announced. On November 30 - December 1, 2023, the institute will hold interviews for the Civil Engineering department. The Aerospace Engineering entrance exam will be held on December 5. The entrance exam and interview for Biosciences and Bioengineering will be held on December 6th, 7th, and 8th, 2023. 
  • IIT Bombay Placements 2023 ended with the top domestic and foreign salaries of INR 3.7 crore and INR 1.7 crore, respectively. IIT Bombay students obtained a total of 300 PPOs, with the average income remaining INR 21.8 LPA.
  • The IIT Bombay-WashU Joint Degree Executive MBA Program is now accepting applications. The batch 9 will begin in January 2024.
  • The CAT 2023 Exam is set for November 26, 2023. The admit card can be downloaded from the IIMCAT website by registered applicants.
  • The application correction window for GATE 2024, hosted by IISc Bangalore, has closed. Furthermore, the GATE 2024 exam will be held on February 3, 4, 10, and 11, 2024.
  • The online registration session for IIT JAM 2024 has been closed. IIT JAM 2024 Admit Card will be available for download online on January 8, 2024. In addition, the IIT JAM 2024 test will be taken on February 11, 2024.
  • The registration period for UCEED 2024 has ended. Furthermore, the UCEED test 2024 will be held on January 21, 2024 (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.).
  • The registration period for CEED 2024 has ended. In addition, the CEED test 2024 will be held on January 21, 2024 (9 a.m. - 12 p.m.). 

IIT Bombay, founded in 1958 and spread across 545 acres of land, offers over 200 undergraduate, graduate, and research programs. IIT Bombay Admission

IIT Bombay Scholarship

To assist students financially, IIT Bombay offers a range of scholarship programs, including Institute Scholarships, Government Scholarships, Private Scholarships, and Fellowships for Ph.D. students. Each scholarship has specific eligibility requirements in order to receive the scholarship award. The following are some of the most popular scholarship plans offered by IIT Bombay and other Private Scholarships.

Merit Cum Means Scholarship

  • The Merit Cum Means Scholarship is given to new entrants based on their JEE AIR rank and annual family income of less than INR 4.5 lakhs.
  • The Merit Cum Means scholarship provides free tuition of INR 25,000 per semester as well as a monthly bonus of INR 1000 to a maximum of 25% of undergraduate students.
  • Furthermore, about 10% of students are given the benefit of free tuition.
  • All SC/ST students are exempt from paying tuition fees and are entitled to free messing as well as a pocket allowance of INR 250 per month.

IIT Bombay Heritage Fund Scholarship 

  • The IIT Bombay Heritage Fund was established by IIT Bombay Alumni in the United States to gather alumni donations for the establishment of scholarships at IIT Bombay.
  • The eligibility conditions for the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund Scholarship are the same as for the MCM Scholarship. 
  • Students who wish to apply for the IIT Bombay Heritage Fund Scholarship must have a parental annual income of not more than INR 5 lakhs from all sources. 

Dr. Burjor Godrej Scholarship

  • IIT Bombay provides two Dr. Burjor Godrej Merit Scholarships worth INR 5000 per month, six Dr. Burjor Godrej Merit Cum Means Scholarships worth INR 2000 per month, and ten Prof. MV Pandya Merit Cum Means Scholarships for INR 1000 per month.
  • The scholarships described above are offered to students admitted to the M.Sc. Chemistry Programs at IIT Bombay.
  • The Dr. Burjor Godrej Scholarship is based on the highest SPI attained by M.Sc students.
  • Furthermore, the fellowship period is five months in each semester, therefore the student with the greatest SPI will receive a cumulative scholarship sum of INR 25,000 for the prior semester.
  • The MV Pandya Fellowship Merit cum Means Scholarship awards INR 10,000 per year to students whose parents' annual income does not exceed INR 1.5 lakh.

Aditya Birla Scholarship

  • The Aditya Birla Scholarship covers the full course and awards scholars INR 65,000 per year. However, student performance is constantly assessed for the renewal of awards each year.
  • The success of the Aditya Birla Scholars is assessed using both qualitative and quantitative criteria.
  • A candidate must be in the top 25% of his/her batch and have a rating of at least 7 on a 9-point scale during the course work to be eligible for renewal of the Aditya Birla Scholarship.
  • Aside from these requirements, candidates must actively participate in institute activities and produce a 350-400 word essay on "Being an Aditya Birla Scholar: Experience Sharing."

Birla Aditya Scholarship Selection Process

  • The information provided in the application form is used to evaluate eligible students.
  • During the application process, overall achievements, and academic and co-curricular experiences are also evaluated and weighted.
  • The candidates are initially shortlisted based on their essays and applications, and the shortlisted individuals are then invited for an interview phase. However, the invited students are reimbursed for their travel and lodging fees.
  • Candidates who pass the interview are subsequently given scholarship prizes.

OPJEMS Scholarship

  • The OPJEMS prize at IIT Bombay is a yearly prize worth INR 65,000.
  • At IIT Bombay, students are offered scholarships in two categories.

The students are classified as follows:

  • For all four years, there were two toppers from each batch from the following streams: Civil engineering, electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, and metallurgical engineering all disciplines.
  • For all four years, the top 12 students from each batch in any specialization or stream.
  • The Scholarship is offered to 112 students from 33 institutes and is based on a student's performance in an online test followed by a personal interview. 
  • However, for selection, the online test and interview will be given equal weightage.

INSPIRE Scholarship

  • The INSPIRE Scholarship is quite popular among IIT students doing bachelor's and master's degrees.
  • Every year, the INSPIRE Scholarship scheme awards 10,000 scholarships for a total of INR 80,000 to each student pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Natural and Basic Sciences at IIT Bombay. 
  • To be eligible for the INSPIRE Scholarship, a candidate must meet the following minimal requirements: 
  • An applicant must have scored in the top 1% of their class in the 12th grade and have chosen Natural and Basic Sciences.
  • Students that received top 10,000 rankings in the IIT Joint Entrance Examination, AIEEE top 10,000 rankings, and AIPMT top 10,000 rankings.

Aside from the scholarships listed above, government scholarships such as the Central Sector Scholarship, NTS Scholarship, NBHM Scholarship, DBT Scholarship, and so on are also available.

IIT Bombay Cutoff
