10 Things You Should Know About the MICA Selection Process and the MICAT 2023

The following are some of the most important aspects of the admissions procedure for the PGDM-C and PGDM classes beginning in 2023-25:

  • MICAT-I and MICAT-II will each serve as one of the steps in the selection process for the PGDM and PGDM-C programmes.
  • Candidates will be required to take either the CAT 2022, the XAT 2023, or the GMAT in order to demonstrate their eligibility.
  • The only format for the MICAT exam will be computer-based, and it will take place in 48 different places across the country.
  • Group Exercise and Personal Interviews (GE-PI) will be held in the following cities: Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, Delhi, and Kolkata.
  • One of the qualifiers is a psychometric test. Those who are successful on the psychometric will have their relative performance on the CAT, XAT, and GMAT taken into consideration (subject to a minimum threshold for the total percentile on the CAT, the total percentile on the XAT, and the score on the GMAT).
  • Applicants whose CAT/XAT scores are above the qualifying threshold or whose GMAT scores put them in the running for admission will have to take the MICAT and be evaluated in the following categories: verbal ability (VA), quantitative ability, and data interpretation (QADI), general awareness (GA), and divergent and convergent thinking (DCT).
  • Those individuals will have their descriptive tests evaluated who qualify based on relative performance, which is subject to a minimum cut-off in Scaled Scores for each of these sections (namely: VA, QADI, GA, and DCT), as well as those individuals who qualify based on a CAT/XAT cut-off or GMAT score.
  • Those MICAT candidates who qualify based on the criteria specified above as well as those candidates who qualify based on relative performance subject to a minimum cut-off in Scaled Score in Descriptive Test (DT) will be considered for shortlisting for general and personal interviews.
  • If a candidate has taken both the MICAT-I and the MICAT-II exams, the shortlist will be based on the candidate’s performance on either the MICAT-I or the MICAT-II exam, or on the candidate’s performance on whichever test yielded the superior relative score. (This will be prepared based on the calculation for the Composite Score, which consists of 50% CAT/XAT/GMAT and 50% MICAT.)
  • On the basis of the overall MICAT scaled score, about one-tenth of the total number of MICAT candidates who show up for the two MICATs will be shortlisted for the general and interpersonal interviews.
