The CMAT scorecard for each candidate has important information about them and how they did on the test. The following information will be on the CMAT scorecard for the year 2023:

  • Name of the candidate and the roll number
  • Date of birth of the candidate
  • The Category and Gender
  • Name of the candidate’s guardian
  • Number of registration with CMAT
  • CMAT score (sectional)
  • CMAT score (overall)
  • CMAT percentile (sectional)
  • CMAT percentile (overall)
  • Status of being qualified Contact information for the candidate

How to figure out your CMAT score?

Scores on the CMAT are based on how much each question is worth and how many points are taken away for wrong answers. Here’s how CMAT scores are made:

Given importance:

  • Each correct answer will be worth 4 points.
  • For each wrong answer, one point will be taken away.
  • No point will be given for each question that is not answered.
  • The total CMAT score will be found by adding up the number of points earned or lost on each question.

Based on the overall CMAT 2023 result, a rank and merit list for all of India is made. If more than one candidate has the same CMAT score, they are ranked by their sectional scores, which are taken into account in the following order:

1. Quantitative Techniques & Data Interpretation

2. Making sense of things

3. Understand the language

4. General Awareness

How do you figure out the CMAT percentile?

The percentile score on the CMAT is based on a candidate’s rank and the total number of people who took the test. Here is the formula that NTA gives for figuring out the CMAT percentile:

Formula to Calculate CMAT Percentile:

Percentile P = 100 x the number of people who took the test and got raw scores equal to or lower than the candidate / the total number of people who took the test.

For example, say 10,000 people took the CMAT and one of them got the highest score (350/400). Since they got the best score on the test, their rank will be 1, and their CMAT percentile score will be 100 times 9999/10000, which is 99.99.

When two or more people get the same rank: If more than one candidate gets the same rank, they will all be given the same rank, but their names will be listed in alphabetical order. The next candidate’s CMAT rank will then be increased by the number of other students who also have the same rank. For example, if three people are tied for 25th place, the next person will be 28th.

What Comes After the CMAT 2023 Score?

After the CMAT results for 2023 are released, candidates can apply to MBA programmes at colleges that accept the CMAT score. Since CMAT doesn’t have centralised counselling, candidates have to apply to each institute separately. Most MBA schools that accept the CMAT score do a Group Discussion (GD) and a Personal Interview (PI) to narrow down the list of applicants.

GD/PI weeding out

Most colleges set a minimum CMAT score to decide who will move on to the GD/PI round. The CMAT score is used to narrow down the list of applicants after the admissions office has received their applications. Those who make it past the cut-off are chosen to move on to the GD/PI round.

The GD/PI round takes place at the institute on a certain day. During the GD round, candidates are put into groups of eight to ten. They are given a topic to talk about, and the moderators keep track of how well they do. In the PI round, a group of experts and professors interview each candidate individually. In this round, the candidates are judged on how confident they are, how much they know, how well they can communicate, and how well they can solve problems.

Q: Does NTA have a centralised counselling system for CMAT admissions?

Ans: No, CMAT doesn’t have a centralised process for MBA admissions counselling. Based on the CMAT cut-off score, candidates will have to apply to the schools of their choice on their own after the results are announced.

Q: Will the CMAT scorecard for 2022 show the rank of all of India?

Q: Is the CMAT score the only way to get into an MBA school?

Ans: No, getting into an MBA programme is based on things like your academic record and work experience, as well as a group discussion and a personal interview (not mandatory for all colleges). The CMAT score is only used to choose which candidates will move on to the group discussion and personal interview rounds.
