CAT 2022 IIM Common Admission Process for the Class of 2023–2025

The IIMs will create a short list of applicants based on the CAT (Common Admission Test) 2022 and the selection process that each one has written about on its website. The CAT selection process is made up of Group Discussions (GD), Written Ability Tests (WAT), and Personal Interviews (PI) (PI). As things stand right now, covid-19. Some institutions only interview candidates who have made the shortlist online.

How IIMs pick their students IIMs and other management schools will start letting people in based on their CAT scores in January 2023. As soon as the CAT results are out, the IIMs start to narrow down the applicants for WAT-PI. As part of this process, candidates must post their CAT scores on the official website of the IIM they want to attend. The institutes then make a list of students who are qualified to take WAT-PI by comparing each applicant’s CAT score to the final cutoff and their academic background. The process for getting into any of the 20 IIMs takes three to four months, and classes will start in June or July 2023. Around the same time, the process for getting into schools that are not IIM is also done.

The CAT 2022 Selection Process for IIMs has three rounds, which are:

Round 1: Results of the CAT 2022 and the shortlist for IIM

Round 2: Interview with a person

Round 3: Final choice and checking eligibility

The CAT Common Admission Process, or CAT CAP, is how people get into the new IIMs. Last year, the CAP counselling was held at the IIMs in Bodhgaya, Kashipur, Sambalpur, Sirmaur, Jammu, Ranchi, Trichy, and Udaipur.

During the CAP counselling process, applicants who passed the CAT are admitted based on common standards, guidelines, or criteria.

The CAT CAP counselling and PI rounds will be done online. But the full information will be available to the people who made the shortlist.

Round 1: IIM Shortlist and CAT 2022 Results

The people in charge of setting up the test must first release the CAT 2022 results. IIM Bangalore, which is in charge of running the CAT test 2022, will most likely release the results in the second week of January 2023. So, IIMs will start putting out dates for shortlists and then start the process of shortlisting. IIMs will put out their own CAT cutoffs for each category in 2022. The list of candidates who have made it to the next round of selection will be posted on the websites of the IIMs in question. IIMs will send interview letters directly to all of the candidates who made the shortlist.

Round 2: WAT, PI, and GD.

Written Ability Tests (WAT), Personal Interviews (PI), and Group Discussions (GD) will still be part of the IIM MBA selection process from 2022 to 2024 for all applicants who meet the CAT cutoff (GD). The candidates are judged on their general knowledge, their ability to communicate, how well they did in previous rounds, and how clear their minds are.

Round 3: Final choice and checking eligibility

Each person on the list for a personal interview at an IIM must meet the eligibility and verification requirements for the CAT final selection process. Now, candidates are graded based on how well they do in school. Here is a list of some of the ways that candidates could be chosen.

IIM CAP’s Key Points

All of the Indian Institutes of Management that are taking part will send the WAT-PI applicants who made the short list to the IIM that is running CAP.

The WAT-PI round for all IIMs that are part of CAP will be run by that IIM.

After the CAP, the IIMs that are taking part will look at how each candidate did on the WAT, PI, CAT score, profile, etc., and make their own admissions list based on merit.

A final list of the chosen candidates will be posted on the site for that IIM. Only candidates who have a CAT ID or an institute login can get to this.

All CAP-participating schools should know that both the eligible CAT cut-off and the CAT admission criteria will carry the same amount of weight.
