MBA Entrance Exam 2022 Date Notification

MBA entrance exams are common aptitude tests that assess the students’ logical, analytical, and critical reasoning abilities along with their command of the English language and knowledge of current affairs. These exams help MBA institutes in judging the most satisfactory candidates for their MBA/PGDM programs. Around 3,700 management institutes are there in India. The candidates are selected based on these Entrance exam scores including their past academic scores and another factor.

The top MBA entrance exams such as CAT, XAT, SNAP, and CMAT are conducted between the months of December and January. Exams conducted by private MBA institutes including, TISSNET, IRMASAT, IBSAT and KIITEE MBA are held in December and January. The state-level MBA entrance exams such as MAH-CET, TANCET, TSICET, APICET, and Karnataka PGCET are conducted from March to August.  

In the year 2020, the schedules of many MBA entrance exams changed in 2021 too and dates were revised due to the Coronavirus pandemic and consequent partial lockdown. Many state-level MBA exams such as OJEE, MAH CET, Karnataka PGCET, etc. were conducted in September. In 2022 however, the exams are expected to be held as per schedule. 

MBA Entrance Exam Dates 2022-23

As mentioned, most of the national-level MBA entrance exams are held between December and January. Students aspiring to appear for the upcoming 2022 exam can apply for MBA entrance exams now as the registration process is ongoing. Q1. What are the eligibility criteria to appear for an MBA entrance exam?

Ans. Those who wish to appear for MBA entrance exam must be graduate from a recognized university with a minimum of 50 per cent aggregate. There is five percent relaxation for the candidates belonging to reserved categories. Some exams do not have a minimum mark criterion. Candidates in the final year of their graduation can also apply.

Q2. Is there a separate MBA entrance exam for every college?

Ans. Many top B-schools including IIMs, FMS, MDI Gurgaon, SPJIMR, etc. accept CAT scores for admissions. Some universities/institutes have their own entrance exams such as XLRI, Jamshedpur that accept XAT scores for admission. There are many state-level MBA entrance exams too such as KMAT Karnataka, OJEE, MAH CET, etc. which are conducted for admission to various B-schools in that particular state

Q3. Is CAT compulsory to study MBA?

Ans. CAT is one of the most popular and sought-after MBA entrance exams. CAT is accepted by all the IIMs and some top B-schools for admission to MBA. You can opt for other MBA entrance exams based on your preference of the B-school.

Q4. When will be the CAT exam conducted? What is the application fee for the exam?

Ans. CAT 2022 will be conducted on November 27. The application process will start in the first week of August. The CAT application fee for the General and OBC candidates is INR 2,200 and for the SC, ST and PWD candidates the application fee is INR 1,100.

Q5. What are the MBA fees in India?

Ans. MBA fee in India varies from college to college. Depending on the infrastructure, curriculum, facilities, etc. different colleges have different fee structures. The MBA fee in government colleges is lesser than the private institutes. In India, MBA fee ranges from INR 15,000 to INR 35 lakh roughly.

Ans. CMAT exam is conducted between January and March. The NTA conducts CMAT in 124 cities across India. Some of the top B-schools which accept CMAT are Christ University, Asia-Pacific Institute of Management, IMS Ghaziabad, We School, Mumbai, JIMS, NSB Academy, KIIT School of Management, etc.

Ans. Generally, the MBA entrance exams have three sections, i.e., Verbal Ability and Reading Comprehension, Quantitative Aptitude and Logical and Analytical Ability. Some exams have other sections such as General Awareness as well.
