What is Sectional Cutoff?

CAT is divided into sections:

  • Data Interpretation and Logical Reasoning.

An institute's sectional cutoff is determined by factors such as the difficulty level of the exam, the number of applicants, and the number of seats available. For admission to the institutes, these cutoffs are established for each section of the CAT exam

In addition to the overall percentile for admission, many management colleges consider sectional cutoffs as well. Students who meet the sectional cutoff have a greater chance of getting into their dream business school. VARC and DILR scores of 70-80 percentile and QA scores of 60-70 percentile are considered good scores. Other factors, such as work experience, academic profile, and performance on the PI, are also taken into consideration by various MBA colleges in India.
