According to the National Council for Teacher Education: 

“NCTE: Prof. Shailesh N. Zala who is the Chairman of WRC-NCTE shared his vision for teacher education in line with NEP 2020. He outlined that teacher education must be designed to equip teachers with the right set of skills and knowledge to deliver quality education to all students”. 

How does NCTE work in India?

NCTE is a statutory body of the Government of India that came into existence in pursuance of the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993. The main mandates which were made on 17th August 1995 are to achieve plans and development of teacher education throughout the country as well as to govern the regulation and proper maintenance.

What is WRC-NCTE?

WRC-NCTE which stands as Western Regional Committee- National Council for Teacher Education. WRC is part of the National Council for Teacher Education. It was established in 1995 under the National Council for Teacher Education Act, 1993. 

Therefore, NCTE is a statutory body of the Government of India. As said, NCTE’s mandate is to plan and coordinate the development of teacher education across the country.
