4-year UG program to be offered by BHU starting in the 2024-25 academic year
This proposal highlights the implementation of a four-year undergraduate (UG) program, namely UG Honours and UG Honours with Research, in line with NEP 2020.
The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) is preparing for the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 from the upcoming academic session of 2024-25.
On March 20, the university’s Academic Council approved the proposal to implement NEP 2020 from the next session, according to a post on X (formerly Twitter). Through the programs people are expecting to be more focused on the overall growth of students to shape them into responsible citizens, BHU said.
Students who complete UG Honors with Research will be eligible for the PhD program without pursuing a postgraduate degree. Students can choose their minor courses from a wide range of options in the proposed program.
Undergraduate students will be required to take Multidisciplinary Courses, Skill Enhancement Courses, Ability Enhancement Courses, Value Added Courses, and internships. Those pursuing honours with research will write a dissertation in their final semester.
