As Delhi prepares for the upcoming Assembly elections, the political battle over freebies has taken center stage. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) are locked in a heated exchange over two key schemes—‘Mahila Samman Yojana’ and ‘Sanjeevani Yojana’—announced by the AAP government. On Wednesday, Delhiites woke up to newspaper advertisements issued by the Health and Women Development Departments, warning against alleged misinformation surrounding these schemes. While AAP claims these initiatives aim to empower women and senior citizens, the BJP has called them fraudulent, sparking a fierce war of words. Delhi CM Atishi has alleged that BJP is using fabricated cases to target AAP leaders, further escalating the political drama. Meanwhile, the Congress has also criticized AAP for spending crores on advertisements, adding fuel to the fiery debate. With the elections approaching, the tussle over freebies is set to dominate the political narrative in the capital.
