First-year BTech computer science and engineering (CSE) students from the School of Technology Management and Engineering at the Narsee Monjee Institute of Management Studies (NMIMS) in Hyderabad have collaborated to develop a connected drone-based emergency lighting system and have presented a research paper on the topic at the IBSSC 2023 conference in Mumbai.

“We, as academics, firmly believe in the criticality of prioritising academic research due to its ability to facilitate direct student engagement and nurture intellectual growth,” said Siddhartha Ghosh, director of NMIMS, after congratulating the students. Students will develop the abilities to study more effectively, produce excellent projects, and become less dependent on teachers and classes once they have developed a research mind. Companies that build software products are always on the lookout for individuals with a research-oriented mindset. The universe, in my opinion, is the new classroom, where learning takes place across the real and virtual worlds.

“A Technological-Based Lighting System for Easy Life” was the title of the research paper presented by Trisha Reddy and S Pavithra.
These kids’ research paper discusses the use of drone clusters with intelligent lighting modules to illuminate dark places in times of emergency or power shortages. The drones can also send adjacent police stations live video feeds. The system can also be used to combine intelligent lighting with surveillance cameras to build a virtual security network that can improve public safety.

For their research report, the first-year Btech students gathered information from a variety of trustworthy sources. The three months it took to complete the research study. Siddhartha Ghosh, their mentor, was thanked by Pavithra and Trisha for his advice and emphasis on self-learning. They garnered praise from numerous scientists and professors despite being the conference’s youngest participants.
