NIT Silchar: Students accuse cooks of stealing mobile phones, 3 guards suspended

According to officials, three NIT-Silchar private security guards were suspended when a group of students attacked the college’s cooks on the suspicion that they had stolen a cell phone.
On social media, a video of the students punching the three chefs and accusing them of stealing a phone went viral. The event is being investigated, according to the police, and an inquiry has also been requested by the NIT.
According to an NIT official, the event took place on campus last week, and the video went viral over the weekend.
He said that the three security officers were fired because they did nothing to halt the assault.
The NIT has formed a 15-person committee, and it has been instructed to deliver a report by August 4th, he continued.
