NIT Rourkela and MCL Sealed the Deal with MoU Signing: An Infrastructure Development is En Route

On October 31, 2023, NIT Rourkela and Mahanadi Coalfields Limited signed a Memorandum of Understanding. This is an infrastructural development to construct the MCL Hall at NIT Rourkela. The signing ceremony also named this collaboration a one-of-a-kind Industry-Academia initiative. 

Mahanadi Coalfields signed this as an infrastructural development and to create a 500-seat Girls’ Hostel. This Memorandum of Understanding would add up to 42.69 Crore funds under MCL’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR). Respective representatives of both NIT Rourkela and MCL expressed this alliance as support for gender equality. And it would also strengthen the industry-academia relations. 

MoU Signing Ceremony

The MoU signing ceremony came forward between the respective representatives of the organization. 

From NIT Rourkela, prof. K. Umamaheshwar Rao (Director, NIT Rourkela) and Shri Rajnikant Panigrahi {General Manager, Prof. H.B. Sahu {Dean, Alumni Industry and International Relations), (CSR) MCL}, and Prof. Rohan Dhiman (Registrar, NIT Rourkela) witnessed the noteworthy signing ceremony of industry and academics.

And from Mahanadi Coalfields Limited, Shri Keshav Rao {Director (Personnel)}, Shri Akshay Shrikant Bapat {Director (Technical/P&P)}, Shri Ajit Kumar Behura {Director (Finance)}, Shri P.K. Patel (Chief Vigilance Officer), Shri Jugal Kumar Borah {Director (Technical/Operations)}, and other administrators also graced the ceremony with their presence, to support the collaboration. 

The ceremony came to an end as Prof. Rao acknowledged his gratitude towards the MCL Team. He thanked Shri O P Singh Ji for their constant throughout the arrangement. He lastly added “It’s a historic occasion, and with MCL having a valuable imprint in the NITR landscape it is a matter of great pride. Both organizations will strive to strengthen their ties and to be partners in mutual progress.”

NIT Rourkela also shared the news a month back via X and informed that under Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR), Mahanadi Coalfields Limited has agreed to provide financial assistance of up to Rs 42.69 crores to NITR. This fund would help the infrastructure development of the institution by constructing a 500-seater girls’ hostel. 

NIT Rourkela aims for excellence in 21st-century skills and offers industrial internships for students. This partnership is a result of this futuristic approach and makes their student future-ready to work in society.
