National Education Policy 2020: Goa Carrying Out NEP 2020 At The Elementary School Level

National Education Policy 2020: Goa CM carrying out NEP 2020 at the elementary school level.
According to Goa’s Chief Minister Pramod Sawant, the foundation stage (one) of the state’s educational system would begin implementing the National Education Policy, or NEP 2020, in the 2023–24 academic year.
According to instructions from the Ministry of Education, the University Grants Commission (UGC), NITI Aayog, and recommendations from the Chief Secretaries’ Conference held in Dharamshala, the NEP 2020 for higher education is being implemented in phases, Sawant stated in a written reply to the Goa assembly on Tuesday.
He was responding to a query on NEP 2020 implementation put up by the opposition lawmakers.
The new NEP 2020 academic structure has been introduced starting from the first year (2023 onward) at the undergraduate (UG) level in all non-technical colleges in Goa, according to Sawant, who also holds the portfolio for education. On Tuesday, the Goa Legislative Assembly’s monsoon session got underway.
Purpose Of The NEP 2020?
The NEP 2020 aims to provide a holistic and flexible learning experience to students by minimizing the school curriculum content and focusing on 21st-century skills such as analytical and critical thinking, experiential learning, and creativity.
Raising Basic Literacy and Numeracy
The NEP 2020 includes Foundational Literacy and Numeracy as one of its primary components.
The NIPUN-Bharat program was launched in 2021 with the aim of achieving universal literacy and numeracy among Class 3 children by 2026–2027.
A five-tier implementation structure was to be built at the national, state, district, block, and school levels in each state and UT under the auspices of the Centrally Supported Scheme of Samagra Shiksha.
FLN proponents assert that these abilities are the cornerstone and essential prerequisite for all further schooling and lifetime learning. These abilities include the capacity for simple mathematical operations as well as the ability to read and write.
