Nanjing University Hosts Spring Festival Symposium for Retired Faculty and Staff in 2025

On January 10, the 2025 Spring Festival Symposium for Retired Faculty and Staff of Nanjing University was held at the Gulou Campus. Jiao Ruihua, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee, Director of the Organization Department, and Director of the United Front Work Department of Nanjing University, attended the meeting and delivered a speech.

On behalf of the university, Jiao Ruihua extended New Year greetings and best wishes to the old comrades present, expressed heartfelt gratitude for their important contributions to the development of the university, and informed the old comrades of the progress and achievements of the university’s various undertakings in 2024 from eight aspects. She said that in the past year, Nanjing University has adhered to the guidance of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era, thoroughly studied and implemented the spirit of the Third Plenary Session of the 20th CPC Central Committee and the National Education Conference, thoroughly implemented the spirit of General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important reply to young scholars returning from overseas studies at Nanjing University, and fully implemented the “Strive for Progress Action”, and wrote a new chapter and created new glories in promoting the construction of a world-class Nanjing University with Chinese characteristics. New breakthroughs, new progress, and new highlights have been made in discipline construction, team building, talent training, scientific and technological innovation, cultural construction, open education, Suzhou campus, and management efficiency. Jiao Ruihua pointed out that the achievements of the university are inseparable from the wholehearted dedication, care and support of the old leaders and old comrades. She would like to express her heartfelt thanks and sincere respect to all the retired old comrades in the university.

Jiao Ruihua said that she felt from the speeches of the old comrades present that the old comrades of NCU have a high position. The old comrades have not faded after retirement, and have not left their posts but their responsibilities. They still care about the development of the school’s cause, which is touching. The opinions and suggestions put forward by the old comrades are very valuable. After the meeting, all functional departments should carefully sort them out, give timely feedback, study measures, and actively solve them. She emphasized that the school party committee and administration will continue to care about retired comrades. NCU is the NCU of all NCU people. The development of NCU is inseparable from the contributions of retired comrades. She hopes that the old comrades will continue to care about and witness the development of the school’s cause together, and jointly welcome a better tomorrow for NCU. On behalf of the school party committee and administration, she wished all the old comrades in the school a happy New Year, good health, family happiness, and all the best.

Min Tiejun, executive deputy director of the School’s Working Committee on the Care of the Aged and former vice president, Shen Xueshan , a retired cadre and former deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Veteran Cadres, Chen Wei, chairman of the School Retired Association and former secretary of the Party Committee of the School of Engineering and Management, and nearly 50 retired comrades from all departments and units of the school gathered together to welcome the New Year. The old comrades put forward opinions and suggestions on discipline construction, talent selection and introduction, laboratory equipment maintenance, campus maintenance, and activity space for old comrades. They are excited about the outstanding achievements made by Nanjing University in 2024, and express their sincere gratitude to the school for its long-term attention and care for the old comrades, and to the relevant functional departments for their long-term care and help to the old comrades, and are full of confidence in the future of the school. They said that they will continue to play a role, make suggestions for the development of the school, and help build the “first Nanjing University” and implement the “Forging Ahead Action”.

The symposium was chaired by Wu Heng, director of the Retirement Affairs Office. Relevant responsible persons from the school office, human resources department, finance department, labor union, asset management department, school hospital, security department and other departments attended the symposium.
