Lecture held on advancement of nanomaterial therapeutics

ALIGARH : The Department of Pharmacology, Jawaharlal Nehru Medical College (JNMC), Aligarh Muslim University, organized a guest lecture on “Perspectives and Advancements in Nanomaterial Therapeutics with special emphasis on Neurodegenerative Diseases” by Dr. Saba Naqvi from National Institute of Pharmaceutical Education and Research (NIPER), Raebareli, who discussed the transformative role of nanotechnology in drug delivery, targeted therapies, and neurodegenerative disease management.

Dr. Naqvi elaborated on how nanoparticles enhance drug bioavailability, stability, and targeted delivery, particularly in conditions like Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s disease. She highlighted recent innovations in nanomedicine, including mRNA-based therapies, theranostic nanoparticles, nanozymes, and immunotherapy-driven nanomedicine, that pave the way for precision medicine.

She discussed notable advancements in selenium, polymeric and lipid-based nanoparticles, showcasing their neuroprotective potential in multiple sclerosis and stroke models.

Addressing the regulatory and safety considerations and emphasizing FDA guidelines, toxicity assessments, stability testing, and ethical concerns in nanotherapeutics, Dr. Naqvi explored the future of nano pharmacology, highlighting AI-driven drug design, 3D-printed nanomaterials, and personalized medicine as key developments.

She also engaged in a lively discussion, where faculty and students explored the clinical applications and translational potential of nanomedicine.

Dr. Syed Meraj Alam Fatmi presided over the lecture and the Chairman of the department, Prof. Syed Ziaur Rahman, along with Dr. Abhinav Tiwary coordinated the event.
