IIT Madras CONVOCATION: Over 2,500 degrees awarded at IIT Madras’ 60th convocation today

The 60th convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras was held today, July 22. During the 60th convocation of the institute, 2,573 students received diplomas in total. On this occasion, students received 2,746 degrees, including joint and dual degrees.
The 60th convocation of IIT Madras is taking place as the university opens its first-ever foreign campus in Tanzania-Zanzibar.
In a statement regarding this, IIT Madras stated that 453 PhDs—including PhDs, Joint Degree PhDs with Foreign Institutions, and Dual Degree PhDs—were given overall.
Chief Justice of India Dhananjaya Y Chandrachud attended the convocation as the special guest of honour. The convocation was presided over by IIT Madras Director V Kamakoti, Board of Governors Chairman Pawan Goenka, faculty, staff, and students.
The Chief Justice of India congratulated the graduates and award recipients and said, “Over the past 64 years, this university has greatly contributed to India’s progress through its research, innovations, and technological achievements.
V Kamakoti, Director of IIT Madras, conferred degrees on 2,573 graduates during this convocation, including 675 B.Tech graduates (of which 36 had honours), 407 dual-degree B.Tech and M.Tech graduates, 442 M.Tech graduates, 49 executive MBA graduates, 67 MBA graduates, 200 M.S. graduates, 453 PhD graduates, and 70 graduates of Web-enabled M.Tech for executives.
19 collaborative PhDs with universities in other nations, such as Australia, Singapore, France, and Germany, are also included in the aforementioned PhD totals.
In a real sense, organisations like IIT Madras have changed Indian society by ingraining the scientific mindset and attitude in our culture.
