IIT Jodhpur UNITES with ZSI for research on zoological interest, environmental climate change
The Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Jodhpur united with the Zoological Survey of India (ZSI) to gather, analyze and share the data about faunal specimens for scientific purposes.
The IIT Jodhpur and ZSI partnership aims to promote joint research excursions, identify Thar ecoregion fauna, and create climate change models based on ecosystem phenomics.
According to an official statement, the association will assist in conducting specialized joint research initiatives and capacity-building workshops in the areas of systematic zoology and conservation to increase the long-term safeguarding of animal genetic resources in the Thar region.
The director of IIT Jodhpur, Santanu Chaudhury, shared his thoughts during the signing of the agreement, saying: “This partnership will facilitate this growth of scientific knowledge in a multidisciplinary sense across the country using AI and Data Science as well as various aspects of engineering and technology which is going on to enhance the efforts in terms of conservation of flora and fauna of the country.”
According to a statement from IIT Jodhpur, “ZSI is home to the region’s largest collection of fauna. More than 100,000 animal species are known to exist in India, and the country has added many new and endemic species to our knowledge.”
