IIT Delhi hosts its 54th convocation, awarding degrees to 2,357 students

The 54th annual convocation of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Delhi was held today. During the IIT Delhi convocation 2023, degrees and diplomas were given to 2,357 students. The main guest was Gagandeep Kang, a virologist who also serves as the director of Enterics, Diagnostics, Genomics, and Epidemiology-Global Health at the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation in the United States.
Aditya Vimal, a BTech in civil engineering, got the Director’s Gold Medal at the IIT Delhi convocation event, while Archit Babuna, a BTech in computer science and engineering, received the President’s Gold Medal. Dr. Shankar Dayal Sharma (Former President of India), who received an MTech in Applied Optics, presented Dibya Jyoti Sarangi with the Gold Medal.
Three students shared the Prefect Ten Gold Medal: Mahajan Swapnil Dashrath (Meenal), MTech in Polymer Science and Technology; Narayani Bhatia, MS (R) in Electrical Engineering; and Ashitha Devi Pattabi, MS (R) in Materials Science and Engineering.
The 54th IIT Delhi Convocation granted the following number of degrees to graduates.

Gagandeep Kang, the principal guest, addressed the graduating students and stated, “Your alma mater is a beautiful location. The mission of IIT Delhi is to excel in scientific and technical education and research, to be a source of national pride for all Indians, and to serve as a resource for society. In other words, you are expected to perform well and to be of service.
