IIM Amritsar to unveil the 4th International Conference on Management of MSMEs 2025

Amritsar : The Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Amritsar is all set to host the 4th international conference on management of MSMEs conducted in collaboration with Dingman Centre for Entrepreneurship, Robert H Smith School of Business, University of Maryland from 17th to 19th January 2025. The conference will take place at IIM Amritsar’s new campus in Manavala, showcasing a unique blend of academic rigour, industry insights, and cultural engagement.
This year’s conference, themed “Advancing and Assisting Small Businesses for Global Impact,” brings together leading academicians, industry leaders, policymakers, and researchers to discuss innovative strategies for addressing the challenges faced by Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs). As MSMEs play a pivotal role in fostering economic development, the conference aims to explore how these enterprises can harness innovation and global opportunities to thrive in an increasingly interconnected world.
The conference will commence with an inaugural ceremony on 17th January 2025, featuring a welcome address by Prof Nagarajan Ramamoorthy, Director, IIM Amritsar. Proceeding that, Dr Sanket Vatavwala, Chairperson, ICMM 2025, will present an overview of the conference, and Dr Arun Kaushik, Chairperson, Doctoral Programs, IIM Amritsar, will introduce the doctoral colloquium. This will be followed by a keynote speech from Dr Vijaya Venkataramani of the Robert H Smith School of Business, University of Maryland, setting the tone for the upcoming sessions.
The subsequent days will feature an array of events, including a panel discussion on the theme, “Advancing and Assisting Small Businesses for Global Impact”, followed by sessions on “Systematic Literature Review using Bibliometric Analysis Approach: What, Why and How” by Dr Satish Kumar, IIM Nagpur; “Logistics Strategies for Small Business Exporters” by Sh Aneet Dulat, Retired Special Secretary, Ministry of Railways, Government of India; “Qualitative Research in the Digital World” by Dr Varsha Jain, MICA; “The Art of Publishing in Top Journals” by Dr Sourav Borah, IIM Ahmedabad; “Re-imagining Management Research and Teaching in the Generative AI Era” by Dr Neeraj Dwivedi, IIM Lucknow; and paper presentations; and workshops designed to facilitate a comprehensive dialogue on the role of MSMEs in the global economy.
A significant highlight of the conference is the doctoral colloquium, which provides a platform for doctoral candidates to present their research and receive valuable feedback from seasoned academicians. The colloquium covers diverse areas, from sustainability practices to digital innovation and marketing strategies for MSMEs, offering participants an opportunity to engage with cutting-edge research.
Participants will also get networking opportunities, including a gala dinner on the inaugural day and a cultural excursion to the iconic Attari-Wagah Border on the second day, blending academic rigour with cultural enrichment.
The conference will conclude on 19th January 2025 with the presentation of Best Paper Awards in both the conference and doctoral colloquium tracks, followed by a closing address by Dr Sanket Vatavwala.
