CUET UG 2025 Dress Code Guidelines Released: What Students Need to Know Before Exam Day

With lakhs of aspirants waiting to attempt CUET UG 2025, the NTA has set stern dress code guidelines for students participating in the exam come May 15, 2025. It appears these rules are not only formalities but are intended to facilitate easy frisking, security checks, and uniformity among participants across centers.

Amidst the chaos, many of the students seem to be trying to change their dress wardrobe as per the official notification.

Why Is There A Dress Code For CUET UG?

The CUET UG is an all India entrance examination with undoubted focuses on security and integrity. To curb the use of malpractices and make freesking easier, a governance body NTA has put guiding dress rules, like those used in JEE and NEET exams.

“We know many students will feel it’s restrictive, but this helps reduce disturbances and ensures there is equal balance,” an NDA official reported.

General Dress Code: What’s Allowed and Not Allowed

Allowed:

  • Light khakis or untucked tees
  • Low-heeled slippers or sandals
  • Simple half-sleeved kurtis or shirts
  • Basic trousers, salwars, pants

Not Allowed:

  • Footwear including boots and shoes
  • Earrings, rings, chains and bracelets
  • Watches, whether analog or digital
  • Belts with metal buckles
  • Headbands or Caps (except for approved religious reasons)

Mechanically cut off. “I’ve already packed a pair of simple sandals and a cotton kurti,” said Meera Singh, a CUET UG hopeful from Lucknow. “I don’t want to get into any trouble at the gate.”

For Male Candidates:

  • Half sleeved t shirts or shirts
  • Avoid cargo pants or trousers with too many pockets
  • Leave out caps, heavy wristbands, or metal chains

For Female Candidates:

  • Light kurtis or t-shirts as first choices
  • Heavy embroidery together with scarves and dupattas to be avoided
  • Comfortable leggings or salwars are recommended

Special Instructions for Religious Attire

Students who need to put on religious garments such as VEIL, HIJAB, TURBAN etc MUST:

  • Arrive between 60 to 90 minutes early to the exam center
  • Acquaint themselves with additional diaphanous checks
  • Carry document proof if needed

Items to Take with You Along with Appropriate Clothes

  • CUET UG Admit Card
  • Government-issued Photo ID (Aadhaar, PAN, Passport and etc.)
  • Clear water bottle
  • Black or blue ballpoint pen

“We are guiding students through the process this time no surprises at the gate,” commented a CUET site supervisor.
