Chandrayaan-3: UGC Urges colleges To Organize Special Assemblies Tomorrow To Mark Chandrayaan-3’s Lunar Landing on Moon

Table of Contents
The University Grants Commission (UGC) has requested that colleges and universities have “special assemblies” tomorrow, August 23, between 5:30 and 6:30 pm to encourage students and faculty to witness the live webcast of Chandrayan-3’s moon landing.
The Chandrayan-3 moon landing by India will be broadcast live starting at 5:27 PM tomorrow on the ISRO website, isro.gov.in, the ISRO official YouTube channel, ISRO Official, the ISRO Facebook page, facebook.com/ISRO, and the DD National TV channel. Along with the rest of the country, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi will watch this historic event.
According to UGC, the landing of India’s Chandrayaan-3 is a momentous occasion that will not only pique youths’ curiosity but also ignite their passion for exploration.
Additionally, it will foster a profound sense of pride and unity as we all come together to celebrate the prowess of Indian science and technology. According to UGC, it will help to promote a culture of innovation and scientific research.
According to UGC, the upcoming Chandrayaan-3 Mission, which is on track to land on the moon tomorrow, will represent a tremendous advancement for Indian science, engineering, technology, and industry.
About Chandrayaan 3:
The third and most recent Indian lunar exploration mission, code-named Chandrayaan-3 (transl. Moon-craft; pronunciation (help))[8], is part of the Chandrayaan programme of the ISRO. It comprises the Chandrayaan-2-like Pragyan rover and the Vikram lander. Like an orbiter, its propulsion system would operate. The lander and rover configuration is carried by the propulsion module up until the spacecraft is in a 100 km (62 km) lunar orbit.
Another lunar mission was considered after Chandrayaan-2, which crashed after entering lunar orbit due to a last-minute error in the landing guidance software.
Chandrayaan-3 was launched on July 14, 2023, at 2:35 IST. On August 23, 2023, the lander and rover are anticipated to touch down close to the lunar south pole. The powered descent is planned for August 23, 2023, at approximately 05:45 IST, and touchdown is anticipated for that same day at approximately 06:05 IST.
Objectives
For the Chandrayaan-3 mission, ISRO has established the following mission goals:
- Achieving a soft, safe landing of a lander on the Moon’s surface.
- Observing and showcasing the rover’s moon-based loitering capability.
- To learn more about the makeup of the Moo, on-site observation and conducting experiments with elements found on the lunar surface
Launch
Launch vehicle LVM3 M4 for Chandrayaan-3 launching from SDSC-SHAR’s Second Launch Pad in Sriharikota
On July 14, 2023, at 2:35 p.m. IST, Chandrayaan-3 was launched from the Satish Dhawan Space Centre Second Launch Pad in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh, India. On August 5, 2023, the spacecraft reached lunar orbit.[24] On August 23, it’s expected that the Chandrayaan-3 mission would make a gentle landing in the vicinity of the lunar South Pole.
Because of a calculation done by ISRO regarding the proximity of Earth and the Moon, choosing the month of July for the launch of Chandrayaan 3 was a noteworthy decision.
The Chandrayaan-3 spacecraft was successfully sent into orbit around the Moon on August 5 by the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO).
The LOI mission was conducted from Bengaluru’s ISRO Telemetry, Tracking and Command Network (ISTRAC).
The Vikram lander detached from the propulsion module on August 17 during a series of Lunar Bound Manoeuvres, allowing it to start its independent trip to the lunar surface.
