According to reports, KEAM will start being administered as a computer-based test in 2024. According to a number of sources, the process to turn KEAM into a computer-based test has started. Additionally, the CEE has posted a notice on its official website asking for Expressions of Interest (EOI) from organizations with Registered Offices or Branches in Kerala that are capable of professionally conducting Computer Based Test on a Large Scale for the Engineering Entrance Examination Kerala.
In the conventional format of the Kerala Engineering Architecture Medical (KEAM) entrance exam, candidates mark their selections for multiple-choice questions on an optical mark recognition (OMR) sheet.
Later, the CEE’s office scans this to create the score. Every year, 1.2 lakh applicants register for KEAM. In 2023, 1,23,623 applicants took the test. In 2022, 1,22,083 applicants sat the test.
Expected Changes in KEAM 2024
Here are some anticipated changes that may occur if KEAM successfully converts to a CBT:
- As it would not be practical to set up over 1.2 lakh computer terminals at once, the test may be administered in parts.
- Two weeks before the real exam, a link to an official practise test will be posted on the Commissioner for Entrance Examinations website.
- Like the delivery of answer keys and the announcement of results, the post-examination procedure will move more quickly. Currently, it takes three to four weeks to scan the OMR sheets. Once the exam is computer-based, evaluation is completed more quickly, and the results are provided to the applicants as soon as possible.
The online KEAM application form may be made available as early as March 2024, and the KEAM test is anticipated to take place in May. KEAM is often held in a few designated areas in Dubai, Mumbai, New Delhi, and Kerela.
For qualified applicants to apply for KEAM, CEE makes an online application form available on the official website, cee.kerala.gov.in.
Candidates who have completed or are attempting their 10+2 exams may apply for the exam to be accepted to one of the Kerala institutions that have been authorized by the Central and State Regulatory Bodies, Universities, and Government.
