BHU RECEIVES Rs 50 lakh support for advancing mathematical science from ARSI

The Banaras Hindu University (BHU) will soon be receiving the sum of Rs. 50 lakh by the US-based ARSI foundation. To foster academic excellence in the mathematical sciences, an agreement was signed between the US-based Foundation for Advancement of Arts and Sciences from India (ARSI) and BHU.
According to the BHU, the money will be used to hire scholars as visiting professors, scholars-in-residence, and associate lecturers for a predetermined period of time. It will also be used to welcome visiting international experts for short, medium, and extended stays at the university for lectures, seminars, and other academic activities.
As per, Bankteshwar Tiwari of the DST-centre for integrative mathematical sciences, “a portion of the funds will be used to organize lecture series, training programs, and other academic activities in mathematical sciences at the BHU in collaboration with The Mathematics Consortium (TMC).”
Ravi S Kulkarni, president of ARSI, and Arun Kumar Singh, registrar of the BHU signed the agreement.
However, Kulkarni claimed to have immense respect for the BHU and be greatly moved by Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya’s vision for the nation’s development through education.
The institution recently announced 12 new scholarships for students in a variety of departments after receiving Rs 60 lakh from its alumni. Kishori and Jagdish Jhunjhunwala, both alumni of the university, donated.
