Here’s what you need to know about the National Means and Merit Scholarship Scheme 2022
Scholarships offered by the National Means and Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) are boarded on the National Scholarship Portal (NSP), a one-stop platform for scholarships.
NMMSS 2022-23:
The deadline for applications for NMMSS 2022-23 has been extended to November 15, 2022. Previously, applications had to be submitted by October 31. Meritorious students of economically weaker sections are awarded scholarships under the ‘National Means-Merit Scholarship Scheme’ to prevent them from dropping out at Class 8 and encourage them to continue their education.
Every year, one lakh new scholarships are offered to chosen students in Class 9 for continuation/renewal in Classes 10 to 12 for students enrolled in State Government, Government-aided, and local body institutions. The scholarship is worth INR 12000/- every year.
The National Means and Merit Scholarship Scheme (NMMSS) is a one-stop scholarship platform for students created by the National Scholarship Portal (NSP).NMMSS scholarships are dispersed directly into chosen students’ bank accounts via electronic transfer via the Public Financial Management System (PFMS) using the DBT mechanism. This is a plan that is entirely funded by the government.
NMMSS 2022-23 Scholarship eligibility criteria (IMPORTANT INFORMATION)
Students who have a total parental income of less than INR 3,50,000/- per year are eligible for the scholarships. Students must have a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade in the Class VII examination to be eligible to take the scholarship selection test (relaxable by 5% for SC/ST students).
L1 refers to the Institute Nodal Officer (INO) level, while L2 refers to the District Nodal Officer (DNO) level. The deadline for INO level (L1) and DNO level (L2) verification is November 30, 2022, and December 15, 2022, respectively.
