Ranchi University’s Government Colleges in a mess: Urgent Need for Renovation and Investigation

Examining the Misuse of Funds and Deteriorating Infrastructure Affecting 9000 Students.

Colleges under Ranchi University were found in a very bad condition. The buildings are in an immediate need of repairs and renovation. More than 9000 students’ study in these colleges, which are funded by the government of Jharkhand.

Conditions of the colleges under Ranchi University

Pathetic condition of the buildings: The buildings and classrooms are in a very bad condition which in no way suits the study environment for the students. This can have a significant impact on the learning environment and the overall educational experience of students.

Inadequate Infrastructure: This refers to the lack of necessary facilities and resources in educational institutions, such as libraries, laboratories, and technology. Insufficient infrastructure can hinder effective teaching and learning processes.
Hygiene and Sanitation: hygiene and sanitation in the era of diseases is the highly concerning part that should be taken care in the colleges and schools. Other than education, health should be given priority in the places where students go every day for education.

Where are the funds going?

The funds allocated to the colleges are either being misused or not going in the right hands. More than 9000 students are studying in Ranchi University on the basis of their capabilities, they pay a bare minimum fee which has a very evident reason and that is they are selected for the government funded education. The government has no doubt allocated a plenty amount of fund for the education in the institutions under Ranchi University but the question is, is the amount being used in the right place. If not, then why is the government not keeping a track on the funded amount?

The duty of the government is not just to allocate the funds but also to raise concern if the funds are being misused.
The principles and director should take the responsibility of reaching the higher authorities if the funds do not reach the college. The conditions of the college are also the responsibility of the higher authorities of the colleges which should be taken care of.

Why are students preferring Private institutions over government colleges in Ranchi?

The students of Ranchi since a long time are either shifting to a metropolitan city or taking admission in private institutions of Ranchi. The infrastructure of the colleges is a probable reason for the cause. Students and the parents are primarily concerned about the environment and the hygiene of the students which they do not find in the government colleges of Ranchi.

Though these colleges provide admission to the meritorious students only, there are no facilities as such. Meritorious students are meant to be groomed and polished for their better future whereas they are suppressed in an unhealthy and noncompetitive environment.
