Prof. MJ Warsi assumed charge as Dean Academic Affairs at BGSB University

Aligarh : Baba Ghulam Shah Badshah University (BGSBU) welcomes Prof. M. J. Warsi, a distinguished linguist and former Chairperson of the Department of Linguistics at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU), as its new Dean of Academic Affairs.

Prof. Warsi becomes the second eminent academic from AMU to join BGSBU’s leadership, following Prof. Jawaid Iqbal, a renowned scholar from AMU’s Department of West Asian and North African Studies who was recently appointed as the Vice-Chancellor of BGSBU. With their expertise and academic vision, both scholars are set to contribute significantly to the university’s growth and academic excellence.

Prof. Warsi has held key academic positions at the American Universities of Michigan, California, and Washington. He has earned several national and international awards, including the James McLeod Faculty Award (2012), Colin P. Masica Award (2024), and M. B. Emeneau Scholar of Excellence Award (2024).

Prof. Naima Khatoon, Vice Chancellor, appreciated this appointment saying that AMU faculty members are academic leaders throughout the country which is a matter of pride for AMU.
