PM Modi announces a 5-year work visa for Indian students pursuing a master’s degree in France

In a two-day visit to France, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that Indian students pursuing master’s degrees in France would now be granted a five-year post-study employment visa. Previously, a two-year work visa was available to Indian students pursuing master’s degrees in France.
The prime minister stated, “Earlier France used to give Indian students a two-year post-study work visa, but now Indian students will be given a five-year post-study work visa,” while speaking to the Indian community at La Seine Musicale in Paris.
The Indian prime minister also emphasized the diverse India-France Strategic Partnership, which is commemorating its 25th anniversary this year, during his speech. Additionally, PM Modi declared the inauguration of a new embassy in Marseille, France.
Since France is commemorating its National Day, PM Modi referred to his trip there as “special” and offered his congratulations to the populace.
Alongside French President Emmanuel Macron, he is at the National Day Parade of France, which he described as a reflection of the “unbreakable friendship between India and France.”
Prime Minister Modi is in Paris for two days. For the Bastille Day commemoration in Paris, the prime minister will attend as the honored guest along with president Macron.
He added that only a small percentage of people are aware that France and India have been collaborating on archaeological missions for a while. From Chandigarh to Ladakh, it has expanded. Another industry that improves relations between India and France is digital infrastructure, he continued.
Following the US, the UK, Germany, and Australia among the most prevalent study-abroad locations in France. According to the most recent official data gathered after COVID-19, there are approximately 6,000 Indian students studying in France for the academic year 2021–2022, with more than 70% of them enrolled in management studies.
The following day, July 15, PM Modi will fly from Paris to Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, for an official visit. In a statement announcing that the UAE will host COP-28, the UNFCCC’s 28th Conference of Parties, Prime Minister Modi said: “I also look forward to exchanging views on strengthening global cooperation towards speeding up action on climate change in order to promote the energy transition as well as the execution of the Paris Agreement.”
