Oath and Peak Cap Ceremony of Captain MU Riding Club held


Aligarh : The Muslim University Riding Club (MURC) at Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) hosted the Oath and Peak Cap Ceremony to officially appoint Captain Mohd. Umair Khan. The event celebrated the club’s strong equestrian tradition, discipline, and leadership. MURC has long been a source of pride for AMU, known for its discipline and rich legacy. The Captain of the club holds special responsibilities for maintaining order and guiding its members.
The ceremony was attended by Chief Guest Mr. M. Asif Habib, CEO of Hanson International Group, and presided over by Prof. Mohammad Gulrez. Guests of Honour, Mr. Amrit Jain, SP, Rural Aligarh, and Mr. Asif Ali Khan, Treasury Officer, Bulandshahr, praised the club for its commitment to discipline and sportsmanship.
Prof. Amjad Ali Rizvi, Secretary of the Games Committee, highlighted the importance of sports in building leadership and character. Prof. Wasif Mohammad Ali, President of MURC, administered the oath to Captain Mohd. Umair Khan and shared final remarks.
The event was attended by the AMU Proctor Prof Wasim Ali , Deputy Proctor Prof. Ali Nawaz Zaidi and his Proctorial Team. Coach Mr. Imran Khan Shibli received special recognition for his dedication to the club’s success.
Former Captains, including Mr. Umer Mujtaba Khan, Mr. Abbas Haider, Mr. Emraan Ghazi and Mr. Sadan Sabih, also attended, sharing their experiences and encouraging the young riders.
Chief Guest Mr. M. Asif Habib commended MURC’s legacy and encouraged members to uphold its values. Prof. Mohammad Gulrez presided the event. Speaking on the occasion he emphasized the role of sports in education and leadership. He underlined the significance of MU Riding Club as a novel feature and valuable tradition of AMU which is a validation of futuristic foundation of the university.
Captain Mohd. Umair Khan took the oath, promising to uphold the traditions and values of MURC. He expressed his gratitude and commitment to leading the club with integrity and passion.
The event highlighted AMU’s sporting heritage, with MURC standing as a symbol of tradition, discipline, and excellence in equestrian sports.
