NIT Jamshedpur signs agreement with NHIDCL for advancement in Highway construction


According to an official announcement, the National Highways and Infrastructure Development Corporation Limited (NHIDCL) has struck a deal with the National Institute of Technology, NIT Jamshedpur, to share experiences in roadway technology and essential infrastructure development projects.
The NIT Jamshedpur and the NHIDCL will share technical experience in areas such as national highway design, core project frameworks, supervision, security, and ensuring the implementation of security and quality norms. Furthermore, they would collaborate to identify practical answers to issues in the development of roadways in tough environments.
The National Highways Development Corporation of India (NHIDCL), a central public sector undertaking under the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, is responsible for the development, maintenance, and management of National Highways in India’s North-East, including the Andaman and Nicobar Islands, Himachal Pradesh, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, and hilly areas of Uttarakhand.
It is a specialised agency that operates in high-altitude and border locations. Apart from roadways, NHIDCL is also constructing logistics centres and transportation-related infrastructure like as bus terminals, container depots, and automated multilevel automobile parking.
According to the NIT,”The agreement was signed on Sunday in Delhi by NIT registrar Colonel (retd) D Nisheeth Kumar Rai and NHIDCL managing director Chanchal Kumar.”

The National Institute of Technology Jamshedpur (NIT Jamshedpur or NITJSR) is a National Institute of Technical Education in Jamshedpur, Jharkhand, India.
On 15 August 1960, it was established as a Regional Institute of Technology, and on 27 December 2002, it was promoted to National Institute of Technology (NIT) with the status of a Deemed University.
It is one of India’s 31 NITs and, as such, is directly controlled by the Ministry of Education (MHRD). It is the third in a series of eight NITs established by the Government of India as part of the Second Five Year Plan (1956-61).
