New US Immigration Rule: All Foreign Nationals Required to Carry Identification 24/7

All foreign nationals, Indian H1-B visa holders, F-1 students, and green card holders will, from this point on, be required to carry identification while in the country; this is a significant change policy wise.
This new rule is set to commence on April 11, 2025, under the Executive Order 14159 titled “Protecting the American People Against Invasion” declared by ex-president Trump.
Key Highlights
- Mandatory ID Carrying Rule ● “Any non-citizen aged 14 years and older on the 30th day of their stay in the country is obligated to register under the Alien Registration Act and possess proof of registration” is mandated.
- Compliance Portal ● Registration can be done through the portal: [uscis.gov/alienregistration](https://uscis.gov/alienregistration.
- Failure to Register Penalties ● Not registering or identification carrying may impose fines, imprisonment or worse.
- Special Circumstances:Registration is due of 14 year olds turning US citizens within 30 days of their birthday.
- Guardians of minors below 14s automatically register if 30 days of continuous stay in the country is recorded.
