The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE), Kohima, has issued guidelines for the conduct of phase 1 and phase 2 Class 8, 9 exams in 2023. Students can get the instructions in pdf format from the Nagaland board’s official website, nbsenl.edu.in.
The Class 8, 9 exams will be administered by the NBSE in two stages: phase 1 and phase 2. The phase 1 examination will take place from September 21 to September 27. Core subjects receive 90 minutes of study, whereas vocational subjects receive 60 minutes. The board will soon issue the exam schedule for the phase 2 examination, which will take place in December.
The board has already posted a subject-by-subject split of the syllabus for both phases on its website. The NBSE has instructed all school administrators and headmasters to make “Students aware of the division in syllabus for the two phases of examinations.”
The division of topics and marks in the question papers for Class 8 and Class 9 courses shall be as posted by the board on its website. The NBSE indicated that it will deliver all topic question papers for Class 9 exams to the respective schools.

The Nagaland board stated, “The Board will provide Class 8 question paper to all government schools, whereas private schools shall prepare their own question paper based on the design of question paper uploaded in the portal and conduct the examination with the same routine for Class 8 examination 2023.”

According to the board, all private schools will hold Class 8 exams, phase 1 on time. “Private schools must prepare Class 8 question papers for phase 1 in accordance with board guidelines and email the question paper in pdf format to nbseqpaper@gmail.com after the exams have been completed until October 10, 2023.”
On September 16, the board will upload a password file to its portal. Schools must log in and download the password file. Password-protected pdf file question papers for phase 1 tests will be uploaded to the NBSE webpage one day before the examination at 10 a.m., as is customary.
The schools will prepare the final results, which will include the internal evaluation, and the consolidated marks from both phases, including the internal assessment, will be submitted to the board’s office after the phase 2 exams are completed.
