Nanjing University holds 2024 Annual Warning Education Conference

In order to comprehensively study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on the party’s self-revolution, thoroughly implement the spirit of the Fourth Plenary Session of the 20th Central Commission for Discipline Inspection, continuously improve the ideological awareness and ability of party members and leading cadres of our school to resist corruption and prevent degeneration, and effectively promote the comprehensive and strict governance of the party in the school to a deeper level, on January 12, Nanjing University held the 2024 Warning Education Conference at the Xianlin Campus. The Party Secretary of the University, Tan Tianniu, delivered a speech entitled “Strengthening the Rectification of Work Style, Discipline and Anti-Corruption to Promote the Comprehensive and Strict Governance of the Party in the University to Achieve New Results”. Tan Zhemin, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee and President of the University, attended the conference.

In his speech, Tan Tianniu emphasized that all Party members and cadres in the university should draw profound lessons, bear in mind the warnings at all times, learn from the case, be alert, know the bottom line, be respectful, and build a defense line, and truly perform their duties in accordance with regulations, discipline, and laws, use power impartially, and do things with integrity. We must continuously strengthen the building of Party conduct and clean government, and jointly maintain a clean political ecology and a united and progressive development environment on campus. We must use the new achievements of the school’s comprehensive and strict governance to promote further comprehensive deepening of reforms, and provide strong political guarantees for accelerating the construction of a world-class Nanjing University with Chinese characteristics.

Tan Tianniu pointed out that strengthening the building of party style and clean government and deepening the comprehensive and strict party governance in schools to achieve new results should focus on three aspects of work. First, we must improve our political stance, deeply understand the spiritual essence of the party’s self-revolution in the new era, and correctly understand the new situation and new tasks of comprehensive and strict party governance and the fight against corruption. We must thoroughly study and implement General Secretary Xi Jinping’s important thoughts on the party’s self-revolution, deeply understand the background and practical requirements of the times that comprehensive and strict party governance and the fight against corruption are always on the road, clearly understand the problems in the field of strict party governance in our school, comprehensively strengthen the awareness of risk prevention and the level of response capabilities, and steadily advance the reform with a thorough spirit of self-revolution. Second, we must enhance our political capabilities and ensure the high-quality development of all undertakings of the school with political consciousness of benchmarking. We must consolidate the foundation of ideals and beliefs, adhere to the use of Xi Jinping Thought on Socialism with Chinese Characteristics for a New Era to unite hearts and souls, and constantly improve political judgment, political understanding, and political execution; strictly abide by the bottom line of discipline, law, and rules, strengthen the study of discipline and law, always put discipline and rules in the forefront, and regard the Party discipline and national law as a “high-voltage line” with electricity; establish a correct view of power, keep in mind that power belongs to the public and must be for the public, and resolutely draw a clear line between public and private issues. Third, we must strengthen political responsibility and implement the strategic deployment of further comprehensive and strict governance of the Party with a progressive attitude. We must tighten and consolidate the chain of responsibility. The Party Committee must take the initiative to grasp and manage, and the Discipline Inspection Commission must perform its special supervision duties well, focus on its main responsibilities and do its main business well. All responsible entities must know their responsibilities, take responsibilities, perform their responsibilities, and fulfill their responsibilities; weave a tight and dense system cage, strengthen the scientific nature and execution of the system, and comprehensively and strictly promote the implementation of the system to advance in depth and to the grassroots, so that the system can truly become a hard constraint; be strict and honest and self-disciplined, and leaders at all levels of the school must give full play to the role of “leading goose” and promote the creation of a good political ecology with a clean and upright atmosphere with their own integrity.

Tan Tianniu emphasized that Nanjing University is currently in a critical period of upholding integrity and innovation, overcoming difficulties and accelerating the construction of a world-class Nanjing University with Chinese characteristics through the “Action for Progress”. In the process of deepening reforms and working hard to promote the high-quality development of the school, we must pay special attention to the building of a clean and honest party style and the fight against corruption, and clear obstacles and escort the school’s development with persistent efforts to rectify work styles and enforce discipline and comprehensive and strict management.

Liu Miao, deputy secretary of the school party committee and secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, presided over the meeting and reported relevant warning cases of violations of regulations, disciplines and laws inside and outside the school.

School leaders Jiao Ruihua, Wang Zhenlin, Lu Yanqing, Lu Xiancai, Suo Wenbin, Zhou Zhihua, Li Bin, and Ding Aijun attended the meeting. School Party Committee members, Discipline Inspection Committee members, deputy department-level and above cadres, and full-time and part-time discipline inspection cadres of the school attended the meeting.
