Maulana Azad Library, AMU to organize a six-day workshop on Koha and DSpace

ALIGARH  : The Maulana Azad Library, Aligarh Muslim University is organizing a six-day national workshop on “Open Source Software, Koha and DSpace” from January 20 to January 25, 2025.

AMU Vice Chancellor, Prof. Naima Khatoon will inaugurate the workshop as the chief guest, while Prof. Aditya Tripathi, Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Banaras Hindu University and AMU Registrar, Mr. Mohammad Imran (IPS) will be the guests of honour.

The workshop convener and the University Librarian, Prof. Nishat Fatima said that the workshop will provide hands-on training to library professionals and scholars on using Koha, an open-source integrated library management system, and DSpace, a platform for creating and managing digital repositories.

The event will also cover cataloguing, metadata management, and international standards like MARC21 and Z39.50, helping participants enhance their library automation and digital resource management expertise, she added.

The Programme Coordinator, Dr. Monawwer Eqbal, Deputy Librarian, said that the expected resource persons include Mr Christopher Cormack, Original Developer of Koha, New Zealand, Prof. Aditya Tripathi, Prof. Parthasarathi Mukhopadhyay, Head, Department of Library and Information Science, Kalyani University, Dr. Jameel Ahmad, Assistant Librarian, Jamia Millia Islamia, Dr. Saiful Amin, Director, Library Services, Semantic Consulting Services Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore and Mr Vijay Pratap Singh, Technical Head, ELIBSOL India.
