Management students learn the nuances of leadership in a national conference



ALIGARH : In order to redefine leadership in the context of evolving global dynamics, focusing on resilience, inclusivity and innovation, and preparing the management students for a magnified leadership role in an AI-driven corporate world, the Department of Business Administration, Aligarh Muslim University organized a one-day national conference on “Leadership Revisited”. The conference was conducted in a hybrid mode, allowing participants to join both in person and virtually through an online platform.
Welcoming the participants and resource persons, Prof. Salma Ahmed, Chairperson of the department and the Organizing Chairperson stressed that leadership had nothing to do with authority, position or title, rather it is a “personal choice” and one must have the necessary qualification and capabilities to lead a corporate house in a result-oriented manner.
Prof. Parvaiz Talib shared his insights on leadership drawing an analogy from Joel Hayward’s book, The Leadership of Muhammad.
Prof. Feza Tabassum Azmi, the Organizing Secretary, extended a vote of thanks. Ms. Sania Khan conducted the inaugural session.
Later, addressing the valedictory session, the chief guest, Prof. Salman Hameed emphasized the transformative role of leadership in addressing contemporary challenges and encouraged young researchers to get acquainted with innovative and impactful personality traits. Quoting Simon Sinek, he said, “Leadership is not about being in charge, Leadership is about taking care of those in your charge.”
Dr. Asif Ali Syed, Dr. Tariq Aziz, Dr. Ahmad Faraz Khan and Dr. Zareen Hussain Farooq judged the paper presentations during the technical session.
The first prize, consisting of a cash prize of Rs. 10,000, was shared by Rushda Kalim (Department of Business Administration, AMU) and Iqra Sultan and Huda Nazir (Jamia Hamdard), while the second prize, with a cash prize of Rs. 5,000, was shared by Dr. Shantanu Kumar Sahu (HIMCS, Mathura) and Mohammad Ather Ansari (Integral University, Lucknow).
Shiraz Khan (Department of Business Administration, AMU) and Kartik Mandhyan(Christ University, NCR Campus) got the Best Theme award, while the Judge’s Award went to Dr. Sablu Khan (Residential Coaching Academy, AMU) and Kumari Jagriti (Christ University, NCR Campus).
Sania Khan, Tooba Bilgrami, Sumit Tomar and Rushda Kalim were the event coordinators.
