The SSLC (Class 10) and PUC (Class 12) supplemental test concepts are about to be eliminated by the Karnataka school board. As an alternative, the Karnataka Board has chosen to implement “three annual examinations,” namely Exams 1, 2, and 3.

In the current examination system, students who fail one or more papers in the SSLC and 2nd PUC exams in Karnataka are given the opportunity to retake the exam. According to experts, this made students more stressed and anxious. This hinders kids’ ability to retain knowledge, engage in meaningful learning, and advance academically. The current system is changing with this in mind.

Students will have the chance to raise their grade under the redesigned module by keeping their top grades from the first, second, and third exams. This will give them better options during the hiring process for additional education or employment.

Additionally, experts think that by changing the name of the “supplementary exams” to “exam 1, 2 or 3,” students will have three opportunities to improve their overall performance and attitude.

The choice was made with the understanding that each student learns at a different rate and in a different way, and that giving tests 1, 2, and 3 can assist students adjust to their learning rate and lessen the stress brought on by time limitations.

What does the SSLC Exam mean?

The Secondary School Leaving Certificate is how SSLC is officially referred to. A certificate known as the SSLC is given to pupils upon completion of their secondary school studies. In India, a qualification exam is typically required for admission to higher secondary education. After passing the grade 10 board exams, also known as the class 10 public examination, students may be awarded the Secondary School Leaving Certificate.

The Indian educational system is classified as

  • Primary schooling refers to the first five years of the educational system.
  • The following five years, from sixth to tenth grade, are referred to as secondary schooling.
  • Students may enrol for a degree course following the 11th and 12th grades, which are known as pre-university or high school after the 10th grade.

Importance of SSLC

The SSLC certificate served as the main basis for date of birth identification when birth and death records were not required in India.

According to the MEA website, those who were born before 1989 are still a legal way for the Indian civil authorities to confirm the date of birth when issuing official documents like passports.
