Jas Kalra Turns Compassion into Action with Free Shelters for Thousands

New Delhi: Jas Kalra, President of The Earth Saviours Foundation (TESF), is just 25 years old and is spearheading a breakthrough initiative to build one of the world’s largest free-of-cost shelter, capable of accommodating over 5,000 individuals. This ambitious endeavor marks a significant step forward in combating homelessness, destitution, and abandonment.
Jas Kalra’s work is profoundly influenced by his late father, Karmayogi Shri Ravi Kalra Ji, a renowned humanitarian, social reformer, and environmentalist. Shri Kalra Ji’s life was an example of SEVA (selfless service), and the Earth Saviours Foundation is his lasting legacy. TESF was founded in 2008 and has rescued over 15,000 people, providing them with dignity, hope, and a second chance at life.
Under Jas’s direction, TESF operates two shelters in Bandhwari Village and Mandawar Village in Gurgaon, Haryana, providing a safe refuge for nearly 1,200 people, including abandoned elders, the homeless, and victims of abuse. However, Jas has set his sights on a bold new goal: a mega-shelter that will amplify TESF’s mission and impact on an unprecedented scale.
“This project is not just about providing shelter; it’s about restoring dignity, rebuilding lives, and inspiring a global movement of compassion,” Jas states.
The new refuge will provide food, medical care, and housing, and it will also serve as a haven of hope for society’s most vulnerable members. Jas Kalra’s dedicated team of 200 volunteers guarantees that the foundation runs around the clock, relying only on donations from generous individuals and organizations.
Jas Kalra’s inspiration stems from his father’s unwavering commitment to humanity. Shri Ravi Kalra Ji, also known as the “No Honking Man of India,” spearheaded campaigns such as India’s first ‘Do Not Honk’ movement and conducted dignified cremations for over 8,000 unclaimed remains. His dedication to mankind earned him both the National Award and the coveted Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Award.
Jas continues this legacy by addressing contemporary issues like pollution, ethical erosion, and societal indifference. He believes that the next generation has the ability to effect genuine change through compassion and unity.
As TESF continues on its path towards building this groundbreaking shelter, Jas Kalra underlines the importance of public and corporate support. “Every act of kindness helps us achieve our purpose. “Together, we can build a world in which no one is forgotten,” he asserts.
This initiative embodies a larger vision: a world governed by ethics, kindness, and shared humanity. With his unshakable drive, Jas Kalra is a beacon of hope, demonstrating that age is no barrier to leadership and that selflessness is the ultimate form of strength.
