IMD alert : Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra schools were closed today due to the orange signal

According to reports, schools and other educational institutions in Kerala, Karnataka, and Maharashtra have been ordered to remain closed today.
In the next four days, Maharashtra is expected to experience severe rainfall, according to the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD), which has issued an orange signal for the coastal areas of Karnataka.
India has been experiencing nonstop rain since the beginning of this month. According to IMD weather forecasts, heavy rain is anticipated to return to north India starting on July 25 while it continues to pummelled south Indian states.
Several governments have been ordering the closure of schools and institutions due to the flood-like conditions and water logging, with the safety of the children in mind. The scenario also forced the postponement of several exams.
Karnataka schools are closed today.
In light of the region’s severe rain, the Chikmagalur district authorities has declared a holiday for schools in five taluks: NR Pura, Mudigere, Sringeri, Chikmagalur, and Koppa, according to an ANI report. According to IMD, Karnataka’s coastal districts would experience significant rainfall over the next 24 hours.
Kerala schools are closed.
Kerala was one of the three states to receive an orange alert. In Kerala’s northern districts of Kannur, Kozhikode, and Wayanad, schools are not in session today. Seven additional districts in the state, including Alappuzha, Kottayam, Ernakulam, Idukki, Palakkad, Thrissur, and Malappuram, have now received yellow alerts from the weather service.
Today’s school closures in Maharashtra
Due to the severe rains in the area, district collector Yogesh Mhase ordered all schools in the Raigad district to be closed today, according to ANI. The directive follows a recent major landslip that killed 27 lives in the district. Additionally, Raigad has received an orange alert from the IMD.
