IIT Mandi, completes a robotics and artificial intelligence summer camp for school kids

The second iteration of the Prayas (Prayas 2.0) summer camp for school kids was completed by the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Mandi. The focus of the event was robots and artificial intelligence (AI).

Prayas 2.0 was a totally residential curriculum designed to teach students the principles of new technologies such as artificial intelligence and robotics. The camp was attended by 100 school children from Uttar Pradesh, as well as 50 government teachers and ITI trainers.
A prize distribution ceremony was also held on campus at the conclusion of the event. The child participants were given a robotics kit to take home.

The camp lasted four weeks, during which time students took robotics and AI classes and learned about various programming approaches. Students were also shown how to use sensors, actuators, communication devices, and power devices to assemble various components and construct robots. Using the customised kits provided by the camp, the students wrote their bots in Python to make them completely functional. The Prayas 2.0 summer programme coincided with the G20-S20 Meet at IIT Mandi, where students presented their projects to Mukesh Agnihotri, Himachal Pradesh’s deputy chief minister. The showcase event took place at IIT Mandi during a one-day Skill India summit. The pupils also took part in events such as World Environment Day and International Yoga Day.
