IIT Madras will close applications for admission to Zanzibar campus today

Application for admission to the first offshore campus of the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) Madras in Zanzibar, Tanzania, will be closed, today. Apply at zanzibar.iitm.ac.in if you’re interested in the two-year MTech degree in data science and artificial intelligence (AI) and the BSc programme in data science and AI at the IIT Zanzibar campus.
After that, students must show up for a screening exam. At IIT Zanzibar, the screening test for the BS course will take place on September 3, and the test for the MTech programme will take place on August 20.
A total of 70 seats in the BSc curriculum are being offered at the IIT Madras Zanzibar campus. Students from all nationalities are welcome to enrol in IIT Zanzibar’s programmes. On October 24, IIT Zanzibar’s academic year will start.
Candidates must pay 12,000 USD annually for undergraduate programmes at IIT Zanzibar and 4,000 USD annually for graduate programmes, excluding costs for the student housing.
IIT Zanzibar Admission Requirements:
Candidates who passed the qualifying exam before 2020 are not eligible for the BS programmes since they did not complete Class 12 or an equivalent exam within the last three years.
There is no specific age restriction for the MTech programmes. Anyone who meets the minimal educational requirements for eligibility may apply.
The newly opened IIT campus in Tanzania aims to strengthen research partnerships with other prestigious academic institutions around the globe.
While IIT Madras will decide on the academic courses, curriculum, student selection criteria, and pedagogical elements, the Zanzibar-Tanzania government will cover the capital and operating costs.
In October 2023, IIT Zanzibar will welcome its first group of 50 undergraduate and 20 graduate students. The institution will provide courses in data science and artificial intelligence during the first year.
