A favorable percentile in CUET 2023 will be determined once the CUET 2023 results are published. Applicants can approximate a good percentile in CUET 2023 by referring to data from the previous year. According to official figures from the NTA (CUET conducting body), in the CUET 2022 exam, 19,856 students achieved a perfect 100 percentile across 35 subjects, and 8,236 students obtained a 100 percentile in English.

The passing percentile score in CUET is around 60 percentile. Students with a percentile below 60 may find it challenging to secure admission to a top central university. However, percentiles above 80 or 90 will likely grant admission to well-ranked colleges.

A percentile of 70 in CUET is considered good. However, to gain admission to top colleges, students should aim for a percentile above 80. A percentile of 70 may still qualify for entry into state colleges.

Achieving a 99 percentile in CUET implies that students have obtained marks ranging from 789 to 800. A percentile of 99 is undeniably excellent in CUET. Nevertheless, it is important to note that college admissions are primarily based on the CUET normalized score, rather than just the percentile alone.

CUET 2023 – Assessing Percentiles and Passing Scores

• Gather information Collect the total number of candidates who appeared in the CUET exam and the number of candidates who scored the same marks or less than you.
• Calculate the count Identify the count of candidates who scored the same marks or less than your score.
• Calculate the percentile Divide the count obtained in Step 2 by the total number of candidates who appeared in the CUET exam.
• Convert to percentage Multiply the result from Step 3 by 100 to get the percentile score.

CUET 2023: Understanding Percentiles and Normalized Scores for Fair Evaluation

Normalized score in CUET refers to the process of converting the raw scores of students into a standardized scale. Since CUET is conducted on different days and multiple shifts of the same exam, score normalization is done to ensure fairness in evaluating all students’ performances.
The process of normalizing the raw scores in CUET 2023 involves using the equipercentile method, as implemented by the NTA (National Testing Agency).

Here’s a step-by-step explanation of the normalization process:

• Calculate the percentile of candidates in each shift based on their raw marks obtained in the respective subjects.
• Arrange these percentiles in descending order for each shift.

By following this equipercentile method, the NTA derives the normalized scores for candidates who appeared in the CUET UG 2023 exam, thereby making the results comparable and fair across different shifts and dates of the examination.
