Himachal Pradesh SCERT : NMMSS Registration Dates Extended; Apply by September 25, Eligibility & More

The deadline for submitting an online application for the National Merit Scholarship Examination (NMMSS) 2023–24 has been extended by the State Council of Educational Research and Training (SCERT) of Himachal Pradesh until September 25 at 11:59 p.m.
The local school administrators and headmasters will verify online applications through September 25 for the NMMSS exam. At nmcme.examtime.co.in, eligible students can register on their own.
“It is brought to your kind notice that the last date for online applying for the NMMSS Examination 2023-24 to be held on 26″ November 2023 for the students studying in Class VIII for all GMSs, GHSs, and GSSSs of Himachal Pradesh in the current year, 2023-24, has been extended so that maximum students can benefit,” read an official statement from the SCERT.
NMMS Himachal Pradesh 2023: Eligibility Criteria
For the applicants’ convenience, the following is a list of key details pertaining to the eligibility requirements:
Educational Background:
Candidates who are enrolled in the VIIIth grade this academic year at an accredited institution or from any government, local, or privately funded institution are eligible to take the admission exam.
Parents’ earnings:
The combined annual income of the parents of applicants who want to sit for the exam should be less than Rs 1,50,00,000.
Qualifying marks:
To be eligible for the scholarship, applicants must have earned at least a 55% grade point average in class VII.
Scholarships are given to deserving students from economically disadvantaged groups as part of the “National Means-cum-Merit Scholarship Scheme” in an effort to prevent class 8 dropouts and encourage them to pursue secondary school.
On November 26, all Class 8 students in Himachal Pradesh’s government schools, including GMSs, GHSs, and GSSSs, will take the NMMSS exam for the semester 2023–24 at 57 testing locations throughout the state.
Paper Pattern: NMMS Himachal Pradesh 2023
For the applicants’ reference, the following is a list of key details regarding the paper format:
- The admission exam will be given offline in two sessions by the authorised body.
- The admission exam will last 120 minutes and will consist of 100 objective-type questions for 100 marks.
Candidates must take the following paper in the entrance exam:
- Part 1: MAT (Mental Ability Test)
- Part 2: SAT (Scholastic Aptitude Test).
- Language test
- For incorrect answers, there are no negative markings in the paper and for each correct answer in the exam, one mark will be awarded.

NMMS Himachal Pradesh 2023: Selection Procedure
Based on their performance in the entrance exam, the applicants will be admitted by the official authorities. The applicants will be admitted to the college based on their MAT and SAT scores.
In order to be eligible for the scholarship, the general category must receive more than 40% on the admission exam. For consideration for the scholarship, candidates from the reserved group must achieve an entrance exam score of at least 32%.
