Heavy Rains in Kerela: Educational Institutions To Remain Shut

Huge downpours lashed several parts of Kerala on Tuesday prompting authorities to declare a holiday for educational institutions and set up control rooms in districts. The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has already sounded a “red alert” in Idukki and Kannur districts for today. It also issued “orange alerts” for 10 of the remaining 12 districts in the state on the day.

Riders on two-wheelers are advised to stay off national highways since waterlogging has been recorded in numerous locations as a result of the persistent rain. According to a top district official, instructions have been given to address and rectify the problem as soon as possible. A holiday has been issued for all educational institutions due to “intense rains” in the district, according to the Ernakulam District Collector’s official Facebook page.

In the far north Kasaragod region, a holiday was also proclaimed for all educational institutions, with the exception of colleges. Due to the risk of landslides, the district administration advised residents to refrain from using high-range routes unless absolutely necessary.
