Health Camp Organized by Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, NIT Rourkela

Rourkela : A health camp was successfully conducted under the aegis of the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (UBA) at Mitkundari, an adopted village of the National Institute of Technology (NIT), Rourkela. Mitkundari is one of the five villages identified under UBA for sustainable development initiatives. The event was organized under the guidance of Prof. Ramakrishna Biswal, Regional Coordinator, Unnat Bharat Abhiyan, Odisha, and led by Dr. Sambhasan, Medical Officer, NIT Rourkela. Student volunteers from the Development Studies of the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences and Sustainable Development Goals Campus Club actively participated in managing the activities of the camp.

Key responsibilities included registration of attendees, conducting basic health screenings such as measurements of weight, height, blood pressure, oxygen saturation, and heart rate, and the distribution of prescribed medicines. The medical team ensured free health check-ups and medicines were provided to individuals ranging from young children to adults aged up to 58 years. In addition to medical services, the camp emphasized health awareness in the tribal-dominated area. The medical team delivered educational messages on essential healthcare practices to promote preventive health measures among the villagers.

The camp received an enthusiastic response from the community, with the villagers expressing their gratitude towards the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan and NIT Rourkela for organizing this valuable initiative. This effort reflects the commitment of NIT Rourkela and the Unnat Bharat Abhiyan program towards fostering holistic community development and enhancing the well-being of rural populations.
