Govt says “CUET is not based on CBSE syllabus, test examines the students of different boards at equal footing”

The Ministry of Education stated on Wednesday that the Common University Entrance Test (CUET)-UG is not based on the CBSE curriculum but rather the broad comprehension of several class 12 subjects.
According to Subhas Sarkar, the Union Minister of State for Education, “The syllabus is based on general understanding of subject at class 12 level and therefore the test examines the students of different boards at equal footing. CUET is not based on CBSE syllabus.”
The minister also denied that any plan existed to recognise only one school board, from which students might take their class 12 exams before registering for the CUET.
In terms of applicants, the CUET-UG is the second-largest admission exam in the nation. 12.5 lakh students registered for the exam in its first iteration, and 9.9 lakh students submitted their applications.
He added, “CUET is being conducted for admission in central universities from the academic year 2022-23 to reduce the burden on students, universities and the entire education system.
The admission exam’s second edition, which was held in nine phases between May 21 and July 5, attracted over 11.11 lakh applicants.
CUET Exam:
For applicants to undergraduate, graduate, and doctoral programmes across India, the Ministry of Education administers the Common University Entrance Test, or CUET.
Based on CUET 2023 Results, several central, state, and private universities accept students.
Candidates can thus take part in the admissions process at numerous colleges by simply passing this one exam. The National Testing Agency (NTA) administers the examination. 250+ universities may use the CUET 2023 Scorecard to create the merit list and for individual counselling.
