Government Inter College students visit AMU’s Physics Department

ALIGARH : A group of about 100 science students from the Government Inter College, Patwai, Rampur visited the Department of Physics, Aligarh Muslim University under a scientific exposure programme and learned the broader details of Physics with special emphasis on innovation and creativity.
In his address, the Chairman of the department, Prof Anisul Ain Usmani emphasized the importance of such initiatives in nurturing future scientists and creating a culture of innovation.
Prof B.P. Singh said that such academic outreach programmes reflect AMU’s commitment to fostering scientific literacy and inspiring young minds to explore the mysteries of the universe.
Earlier, welcoming the visiting group of students and their teachers, Dr. Jai Prakash introduced them to various courses available in the department and highlighted its illustrious history of scientific achievements. They were given a comprehensive overview of the research facilities available in the department, and also about government schemes for higher education in science.
A short film highlighting India’s advancements in nuclear energy and the pivotal role of AMU in the nation’s scientific progress was also screened, helping the students understand how physics translates into real-world applications.
He also elaborated on the advancements in liquid crystal materials.
Dr. Mohd. Shuaib lead the students to the nuclear physics laboratory and demonstrated the working of alphs, beta and gamma ray spectrometers and other appliances.
Dr. Harish Kunari, Dr. M. Jane Alam and Dr. Mohd. Adnan explained the working of the various electronics and optics experiments available in UG and PG laboratories of the department.
Dr. Tarun Kumar Varshney, Principal of the school, expressed gratitude to the department for this enriching experience and hoped for future collaborations.
